1807 – A meteorite falls in Connecticut, creating a hole 5-ft long and 4.5-ft wide. This was the "New World's" first witnessed fall of a meteorite since the arrival of the European settlers.
1903 – The Wright brothers make their first attempt to fly with the Wright Flyer at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
1962NASA's Mariner 2 becomes the first human spacecraft to fly by Venus, transmitting first time information about the planet.
1967 – The first synthesis of biologically-active DNA in a test tube was announced.
