Personal History

Before she could even acknowledge anything, T’Aranai felt that she knew her biological parents didn't want to abandon her or leave her. Wherever they were at the time, it was not safe and they needed her to live. In a space pod, she was brought into the Sol system and landed on Earth, in the state of Texas. She landed in a farm yard owned by Charis and Lynn Dawn. Charis was unable to bear any children of her own and took T’Aranai in.

They didn't know anything about her or her heritage, but had figured she was Vulcan and saw a slip of paper with her name. T’Aranai and her last name, but it was so battered from her grip, they gave their last name to her. She grew up with the human family, after so many distresses of raising a baby Vulcan, as well with the heighten sense of smell to everything.

At age four, T’Aranai began to show human characteristics and emotions. The farm owners were able to put her through schooling and a meditation schooling to help her with her emotions. By age six, she could suppress her emotions easily, and switch from the charismatic side to the serious side.

Around ten years old, T’Aranai got into a fight due to bullying. Her ears were very pointed and her brows highly arched, and the humans poked and picked fun of her. Since she had more strength than the human, so she placed the young child into a hospital. After that, she became the kid to 'stay away from' and she began to wear knitted hats and did stay away from others.

Around the time she had felt her true taste of raw emotion, at 10, she began to be more secluded and felt a strong urge to do something that her foster parents told her never to do: mate. Since she had severe training at her meditation classes at such an early age, she was able to overcome the severity of it, escaping what she felt like was death. She continued this intense meditation even after, what she found out was Pon Farr, ran its course and did not understand why she was getting very edgy and 'emotional'. (I can't remember the word I was going to use, so that is why I placed emotional there.)

After the incident, she was shunned to the barn, for fear her anger would be bring her adoptive parents harm as well. For six to seven years, she spent her time with the animals, even withstanding what odors they brought and began to find comfort in the smells over the years. Her school marks were decent with no help of the people who took her in and only being fed once or twice a day. Even though she was secluded to the barn, when puberty hit for her, she felt that same urge, Pon Farr. She did what she learned the last time; concentration on her meditations would help ease the urges she felt. She kept this all in privacy to others and began to feel somewhat nervous around others due to this change a second time, since she didn't know what it really was at the time.

Close to 16 years old, T’Aranai finally decided to run away from the barn and that school all together. She was able to land a job shortly after she ran away and was able to stay in the attic of her boss’s home. At her 17th birthday, she was able to get an apartment for a year and landed two more jobs and finished her schooling and got a diploma. (at a different school)

At 18, she had enough saved and was able to fly to San Francisco to go to Star fleet Academy.

Starfleet Academy

During her time at the Academy, T’Aranai was the quiet one. She studied hard and kept her grades high. With an affinity to help others, Medical was her choice. With her being very different, she did meet a few friends, but none noteworthy. Even speaking with other Vulcans, they tended to be themselves and go logical.

She left to the social to other people and focused most her time on her studies. Years flew by and she was able to take her final exam to pass. Her instructor was Lieutenant Jenna Coranza and her examination was very different from her other simulations. Even if felt real and the people were interacting, she felt this was her final test: to be able to work under the stresses of those who would do harm to even her or her comrades.

She passed with very good marks. Shortly after graduating, she received notice that she was accepted as a Midshipman Medical Officer on board the USS Ticonderoga.

First Mission- Hunting the Hunter

Upon graduation, she received notice to board on the USS Impulse to intercept the ship, Ticonderoga while it was in the Muro System. She there met two officers, one that was also going to the same ship, Lieutenant Simmons, who was a Tactical Officer. They parted on the ship, going to different parts of the ship as she needed to report to her Department.

Quickly readying herself, she met with Lieutenant Artemis Quinn, her Chief Medical Officer. He wanted her to support the Away Team on the Freighter, Renegade. There wasn’t enough time to ask what type of mission it was, only to quickly find her way to the Freighter and give medical support to those who needed it. Once arrived to the ship, she made sure standard supplies were there.

T’Aranai quickly learned to stay on her toes. While she was in the cockpit of the Renegade, two shadowy forms quickly appeared then disappeared. Shortly afterwards, someone from the Landing Zone was shot with a fatal wound. With her duty solely on her mind, she rushed out, with no thought of her own safety and attempted to save the fallen comrade, in full view of the attacker.

Meeting Lieutenant Commander Donaghue wasn’t how she intended, but with a purposeful scolding, T’Aranai realized that if she were in danger of getting killed, all would be catastrophic. After getting into cover and attempting to save the Security Officer Midshipman Kruse, two other Officers joined the wounded list. Lieutenant Caldecott and LT(JG) Munroe were attacked as well. The wound on Kruse was too much to bear for her vitals to continue, and she finally had died.

T’Aranai’s emotions wanted to flare, but she had to stay calm and suppress the raw emotions she felt. Munroe had a terrible wound on his right shoulder she needed to surgically remove the cauterized skin. With her strength, she was able to run back up the ramp, with Keith in tow, into the Freighter and give the needed treatments.

While using the Dermal Regeneration during the numbing and sedation, he had felt every little thing what was happening. She felt terrible putting him through a lot of pain, and would somehow try and apologize properly for it, as a new friend, or she would hope. Caldecott was the same with his charred fingers being Regenerated.

That had frustrated her to no end.

They finally got everyone on board to extract the team and the targets. As she was trying to get Munroe to not use any weapons due to sedation and numbing agents, a missile had hit the side of the Freighter, causing wounds to Caldecott and Donaghue. They were hit, as they were trying to retreat back into the Renegade and couldn’t. With him shouting ‘another injured’ and ‘I can’t make it’ was all she needed to help him into the ship again. After she got her bearings back from the missile, she had to cautiously round the corner to grab on the COS. A second missile was incoming, so before anything was done, she braced herself better for the impact. She finally grasped tightly onto his arm and with her strength she was able to pull them into the Freighter with only a slight pull to her muscles in the end. As everyone finally were accountable for, she paid no real mind, since she was focused on Donaghue’s wound. She was able to stop the bleeding before she lost cognitive thought, but she was in eminent danger of being lost. Thankfully, Addison lived being transported to the Tico’s sickbay.

T’Aranai realized after the trip from Muro IX to Starbase Bravo, the Ticonderoga and her crew, was her new home.

Returning to Starbase Bravo.

After the long trip to Bravo, she had found out that the base, among others, were hit simultaneously and a large chunk was missing. With that happening, patrols and security were tighter than ever. The crew was shooed off the Ticonderoga shortly after it’s docking, since was being refitted. Along with the refitting, a party of sorts was happening as well on Bravo.

During this time, she received an unexpected Star and a promotion to Ensign. To say mildly, she was honestly surprised at them all, but very honored to having them.

During her first time on Starbase Bravo, she was asked by a new found friend and the Security Officer whom she was able to save, Keith Munroe, to attend to the funeral of Midshipman Kruse via Holodecks.

Once over, she practically had dragged him to the Restaurant area of Spanky’s Bar and Grill. During this time, she spoke about her childhood which brought back some horrible memories, yet the good ones override them as she found a family who accepted her.

Keith didn’t take well of her being bullied while younger and she saw the bitterness he held for them. Being an optimist, even in times as they were in and before, she spoke her mind and told him she learned from the experiences and those that are bullying may have something also going on in their lives for the want of making someone else’s life miserable. Putting it behind them, she lightened the mood until the food was brought to them only to ask for the check and to-go boxes.

His girlfriend, Allyson, on board on a different ship, had messaged him to talk to him. It was a good time to do so, so she asked to go with him if he wanted her company and to also check his arm. Once they got to his quarters, and T’Aranai settled down ready to check the progress of his arm, the unthinkable happened.

Keith had called Ally and another man had answered the PADD. After Keith had told her of his story about another girlfriend, she waited for confirmation to look at his arm, but instead giving him a hug and a promise to be there for him and to never hurt him, so long as she was his friend and comrade.

During most of the time of shoreleave, she was in constant company with either Keith or talking to her family down on Earth. Samantha, who was her adopted sister, spoke about wanting to meet the guy T’Aranai was talking about and the young human girl knew that the Vulcan was oblivious to her own feelings.

Days later, T’Aranai heard of Theo getting transferred as the Chief of Security on the Gettysburg and Keith getting transferred as well, but to the Avenger. Seeing them leave made her uncertain in some ways, but she smiled as Theo left them after their congratulations to him. Turning to talk with Keith, she had him promise to keep in touch, which when they could, would write or send a video message.

Second Mission: Dealings, Information, Prices with the Uhivueri, Battle at Tellar, and Attempted Rest at Alpha.

After the long intense Refit of the Ticonderoga, everyone was recalled after the full shoreleave. T’Aranai was somewhat somber to not have Keith on board, as he had to leave for the Forth Fleet for the Avenger’s own Mission before even her mission started, but she willed away as they all had a task. Taking the brisk walk in the new and improved Tico, she dropped by the Triage area where the Office was located. Few of the Doctors and nurses were already in the midst of getting everything ready, preparing for the next patient. T’Aranai was doing the same, until the Captain came in unannounced.

Tokat had sent her a message wanting to speak with her, but it was vague and seemed important to be in person. Once in the seclusion of the vacant office, she spoke of her own distress and wanted him to be aware of her own situation, oblivious to her time to Pon Farr, as she didn’t know that was what she would be going through. Surprisingly, she didn’t have her Pon Farr within the missions. With everything said, Captain Tokat had given her a hollow pip and Acting Chief Medical Officer, as his evaluations of her were well in his eyes, especially obtaining a Diamond Star as a Midshipman turned Ensign.

In a week’s of their Patrolling mission, everything got interesting. A very powerful and boastful Telepath, Betazoid as she guessed, came aboard the Tico. The influx of patients was immense as those who had telepathic use felt her presence as she stepped onto the ship, and became panicked or unsure of what to do.

Her duty was to sort this out, yet as a new Chief, she was unsure. Her mentor was an older Doctor named Kyla Mae, who helped and allowed her to learn. Once all was done, they had kicked her out to rest as they all knew she only napped a few minutes to regain some precious coordination. A few hours later, as a Senior Officer for the Medical Personnel, she was paged to go to a meeting at the Obs Lounge.

The debriefing didn’t take long, which she was thankful. The details of the mission were highly classified, and if they were to succeed, she and four others would have posed as Romulans. Something was after their Informant and was unsuccessful in getting the vital information, until the Sol System was attacked.

[These events are lost due to corruption of data] An urgent recall was made to return to Earth. By the time of their arrival, Luna was already collapsing into Earth. While on their way, T’Aranai was able to speak with Keith and even his father. Minutes of the transmission, the signal was lost and that was when her thoughts pummeled into the darkness she felt. Earth was gone. Everyone she deeply cared about and knew was gone.

That was when she realized her emotions and feeling to the man on the screen. [End of corrupted data]

As they went to battle at Tellar, her Captain had paid her another visit in her Office as all were exhausted. He had given a field promotion to a full Lieutenant and the permanent role of his Chief Medical Officer. T’Aranai then took it upon herself to make sure Tokat was taking care of himself to the best of his ability. With her ability to show what she felt, she gave the Captain an offer if he ever needed to talk, that she would be there for him, as a friend, without saying the words.

During the battle, they had suffered some damage at the end. Surprisingly they weren’t enslaved by the enlightenment that the Krynar used. During the Battle of Tellar in ship battle, the Tico was fortunate to have little damage and only a few casualties. Returning to Alpha for the much needed rest and time to adjust that Bajor had returned, she was surprised to see her family on the Base. With the shuttles red lined, she was baffled. They had spend vacation up on Alpha knowing that the war had started and now wasn’t able to return to Earth because of it.

During the time with her family, T’Ara saw Keith and nearly had killed him as they plummeted into the water fountain behind them. It was earth shattering to see Keith again, and to him as well as he had surprised her with a gentle kiss. T’Ara felt the feelings within her as he broke away as they were interrupted by Cleo. She remembered her dealings with the Gypsy, but kept the water under the bridge. She silently congratulated the new mother as she saw her pregnant. Cleo had quickly left as she arrived, leaving Keith and her alone, soaked.

Recall to the Ticonderoga: Third Mission: Krynar’s Annihilation.

The days went on by as they made time to spend together along with her family, who Keith was able to meet after getting dried. During her final time, she was recalled in short notice. She would have been left if she wasn’t on the ship by 0800 the next day.

The following day she had made it by 0630 and during this point and time, she decided it was time to change. Cutting off most of her long raven hair, into a shorten length was drastic to the Vulcan Doctor, but with a smiling face, she wore her new found look with pride and decided to begin and embrace her culture—her people. She wouldn’t know how Keith would take it, but she decided it was best to do this for her, to understand and possibly find her parents, which have been one of her many goals.

[Classified] During the time of the transwarp and charging the graser weapon, something had happened to Captain Tokat had succumbed to something and attempted to stop the mission at all costs. During the time T’Aranai wasn’t up there, Commander Gregg had stunned him to prevent any more crises, and being called to the Bridge to see the mayhem, made the Chief look on with concern. With the Avenger’s Captain being rightfully pissed, Gregg tried to keep the group calm as he assumed command of the Ticonderoga.

With Tokat carried off by two large Security Officers and T’Aranai, she placed her own Captain in a Medical Room under Containment and locked his command if he decided to wake while she wasn’t monitoring him. The Acting Security Chief Addi entered the Sickbay and had concerns that were being ignored and she became frustrated. T’Aranai understood to a point, and knew that some things, no matter how small or huge, could be over looked. She shared Addi’s cautiousness, though unfortunately did not yield to it, for a second time in her career.

Urgency was felt as she stopped at the room, opening the door. Without even knowing it, T’Aranai had walked straight into the Field she had erected and checked Tokat’s vitals. Something or someone pricked at her mind, as she drew closer to the Captain, only to be hassled into a Mind Meld. The sense of being lost and trapped was felt as she assured him, that she would try and assist…knowing Mind Melding without the proper training could cause significant risks.

Entering his mind was an unusual sensation and new to T’Aranai. She gathered her own wits and looked at the swirling ethereal sand above and the cave Tokat was trapped in. Hearing his pleas and emotions that rolled off of him, something had attacked his mind with so much force; he was trapped in his own prison-the recesses of his own mind. Learning what she had, T’Aranai knew that physical prowess wasn’t the way to help Tokat escape his mind.

Even then, she promised him to be there for him, once again, yet spoke the lines of being his friend. Steeling his control, hand in hand, the cave walls crumbled and her job was completed as they returned to reality. Releasing each other’s pressure points they turned to be greeted by a hostile and pissed off Security Chief. Within not only her Containment Field, but Addi had placed a Security Field around them just in case the effect had transferred onto the Medical Officer.

Explaining what happened to the Captain while he was out was most unnerving but it had to be done, as the four grasers penetrated the core and had disrupted the orbit and balance. Scanning them both after regenerating most of Tokat’s skin from the burn he received, she looked at Addi, remorseful of the position she put the Security woman in. At the time, the Vulcan Doctor decided to show the Security Officer that she could follow regulation, but was understandably shot down only to have her come back saying that if T’Ara showed Addi then she might trust the Doc again.

Even so, Addi lowered her force field as did T’Ara and they proceeded to return to Bridge. [End classified.]

As she got to the Bridge, T’Aranai relieved her Medical Officer from the post she was given and had met a new Midshipman in the Science Department, Anthony Moriarty who flubbed a bit, calling himself Captain before correcting himself.

Then chaos, and within the chaos, the ship was torn into three chunks and they all flew everywhere as the Gravity fluctuated on and off. When it turned on, everything and everyone was in a heap of mess on the bridge and everything was offline or slowly running out of power. With T’Aranai the only Medical Officer, she had to assess the damage all the crew on the bridge. She was thankful and relieved that Ensign Andrew Regan was mobile and could assist Commander Edward Gregg and the new Midshipman with their injuries until help arrived or the impending space crept in to claim them as her own.

Time was of the essence as she had to quickly work under little to no lighting and lifting the heavy doors of the Observation Lounge off of Captain Tokat. Lieutenant Commander Simmons was able to assist Lieutenant Commander Donaghue as the rest were the more unfortunate. T’Aranai was able to stop the external bleeding, but with his internal bleeding levels rising, she feared the worse for her Captain.

Returning Home and Mournful Loss

Just then the lights of nearby Transporters whisked them away to either the Avenger or the Intrepid as they were coordinating in the rescue. Unknowingly she stayed conscious enough for the Chief of Security, Brocor Korl, to have Tokat the first to be taken in care first.

T’Aranai woke from her hazy thoughts and from her unusual dreams or thoughts. She didn’t understand what they meant as she replayed the voice’s words from her dreams. While she was out, T’Ara was properly sutured and healed as much as the machines could do and was in a splint/cast until her entire left shoulder healed. During this process and in time, she has decided to attempt to drop her human last name, as she wants to learn and embrace her Vulcan Culture. Once all were properly taken care of, they were to be transported on to the Titan to return to Starbase Bravo; the second home she had now.

The young Vulcan knew no one would ever be the same.
