Personal History

During the early years of her life, Crystal was just like every other child she grew up with. However, she had the unique ability to find any kind of information about someone. Unusually it wasn’t through any kind of training, but just a skill that came naturally to her like walking, but from a small portion of her heritage she didn’t know she had. Her unknown Betazoid side, was due to the fact she had never known her father as he ran away only hours following her birth. Since her mom was unaware of his own origins it was never truly known. As her skills continued to develop, she eventually picked up a talent for Medicine. Whenever she had decided to join the Academy, this was the route she had decided to take. Not because her lack of interest in Intelligence, but because of her belief that they weren't going to want a newly graduated cadet in their midst.

Graduating with high marks, Crystal received her first assignment without much of a wait. The crew of the USS Poseidon welcomed their new crew member with open arms. On the Poseidon she spent a good majority of her time in Sickbay. Unbeknownst to her captain, a Vulcan named Ra'Vesti, had an acquaintance within Star Fleet Intelligence. Following her promotion to Ensign, Ra'Vesti began to submit updates on Crystal. As she made Lieutenant Junior Grade, Crystal had expected to take over as the ship's Chief Medical Officer following the retirement of their old one. However, as they arrived at Star Base 129, she was called into a meeting with her captain and an Intelligence officer.

Once all the preliminaries were accomplished Crystal found herself in a completely new element. As she started out, Crystal found herself in duck-blinds of near-warp civilizations. While her primary area remained Intelligence, she still functioned as the team's medical staff due to her dual-training. This finally came into play whenever a key member, their leader, received a fatal injury. Crystal furiously spent near six hours to try and save her commander's life. With all her efforts in vain, she felt like she needed to just give up on everything when she couldn't save just one person. The very next day she earned a provisional promotion to full Lieutenant and executive officer of the field team. Upon their return to base the promotion to Lieutenant had become permanent. However, Crystal felt obligated to return to her medical roots and determine if there had been anything she could've done differently to save the life she had lost.

Eventually time caught up with her as she served at Star Fleet Medical. Now a Lieutenant Commander she began to question why she had left her Intelligence career behind. Months into her wondering Crystal had been approached with an opportunity that made her feel like she was a kid in a candy store. She had been offered a chance to return as an Intelligence officer aboard the USS Challenger. However, with the ship now in need of a Chief Medical Officer, she was called to serve in a dual capacity once again. While she had been excited of the thought of returning to active duty, she was slightly nervous about service in the Department Head position. As she tried to turn it down, it was all revealed to be a both or nothing deal as the Challenger needed someone who was able to serve efficiently in both positions. Reluctantly she gave in and reported in to her new assignment, but not before she found out about the last requirement. Crystal had to take a voluntary reduction in rank to Lieutenant while she served onboard the Challenger. She would return to her original rank under two condition, either standing down from the Challenger or until an opportunity comes for her to be restored while still serving.
