Personal History

While growing up David was interested in the many ships he saw. It help shaped his way to his future career plans in his teens, so when he came of age he was admitted into the Academy. His training went exactly as planned and was offered a chance to receive certification for Star Fleet's fighters.

During the weeks of intense training the group of skilled pilots bonded together and as a result, passed certification with perfect marks. Soon, however, Sheppard's training returned to pure Tactical. This would push him into positions that he served well in.

Serving on several cruisers during his tenure David didn't know what was in store for him when he was reassigned to the fourth fleet. An opportunity was given to him to serve as the Nova's Chief Tactical Officer. Even though it wouldn't see as much battle as he'd like Sheppard accepted the position nonetheless.

Taking over as the Nova’s First Officer, in light of not having one onboard, David excelled at the position. Realizing that it was finally time for him to move up in the world he graciously resigned from the Nova. He had confidence in his friend Joseph Tyler up to the very end, putting his name in for promotion to Chief Tactical Officer. Return to the base saw his rank increased to that of full commander. While he wanted to continue serving as the Nova’s First Officer, which he saw as a great honor, it made since that more experienced officers in that position needed to be given the job. Eventually he found his calling. The USS Mattis was in need for a First Officer. Even though it was part of the Marine Assault Fleet he hoped to be awarded the position based off his record. In the end he won out and was prepared to take his post on their arrival at Delta.

Following his interest in the Mattis, David was informed he’d have to speak directly with Major General Morris. Not knowing what to expect David went into the meeting with his mind set in obtaining the position of First Officer. During his meeting, the first impression of Colonel Bradley, who was in command of the Marines, wasn’t the best. The two didn’t start off on the best of terms. However, it would hopefully change whenever General Morris informed David that what he was under the impression of happening wouldn’t. With the ship being more automatic than suspected the regular role of First Officer wouldn’t be needed and David found himself assigned as the 4th Fleet Marine Flagship’s Commanding Officer.
