Personal History
As a part of a engineering experiment under the direction of Lieutenant Kiron Hunter, the EEH was created to serve as a means to help operate the USS Gettysburg under adverse conditions. It took Lieutenant Hunter the better part of two months to create a workable program that would be able to interface with the Gettysburg’s main ships computer and create an autonomous program capable of thinking on its feet and be able to interact with the crew in its own manner.
Lieutenant Hunter decided to give the hologram the image of his chief engineer, then Lieutenant Chris Eaglestone, with one major exception. In order to tell the two apart, the engineering hologram decided that he would sport an afro, and that he liked the look of the rest of his program. As such, Hunter left the program the way it was letting the EEH decide to adopt the afro and keep Eaglestone’s appearance.
As time grew, Lieutenant Hunter made many minor modifications to the EEH’s program subroutines. Some of the modifications included a direct access to the main computer core of the USS Gettysburg and a direct access to some of the subsystems of the Gettysburg. More holoemitters were installed throughout the ship, giving the EEH more free-range as a corporeal, and he was also given the option to use view screens to transfer his image to be able to interact with people at different locations where his emitters were not installed. As time grew, he started to interact more with the crew, gaining their trust and his friendship.
After a short time, needing a name to call the EEH, Dave was adopted out of the EEH’s decision and input from Hunter and Eaglestone.
Things in Dave’s life stared to get more complicated after Eaglestone stepped down from chief engineer. When he found himself reactivated, he was in the midst of a war with the Romulans and was one of the most experienced engineers left on the ship. He also started to get to know the new chief engineer, Terra Arking. A friendship began to form between the two of them even if it was an unusual one.
