Commodore Mike Wong recording.

Having completed redeployment to Star Base Bravo and the Second Battle Group under Commodore Jhalan zh’Matis. The crew welcomed the 2BG Commander aboard for a mission briefing. It seems the fragile peace in the region is in need of constant attention. To that end Dauntless has been tasked with transporting a Vulcan diplomatic team along with the new Romulan Ambassador to Vulcan to the Romulan Home World.

Because of a still tense Romulan military Dauntless is to be subjected to boarding and searches at their discretion. While they are supposed to remain out of sensitive areas of the ship, I can’t help but worry that a confrontation may result. While maintaining the peace is of paramount importance, the security of my crew and ship are my highest priority.

In route to Romulus we are preparing to stop over at an obscure world named Amazonia III where remains and historic documents from ancient ships involved in the Vulcan exodus. These items are of great cultural importance to both peoples and I hope they help solidify this fragile peace that so many have forged with their blood.

We have been ordered to accommodate the inspections as well as the wishes of our VIP guests. Up until now their requests have been rather benign. In discussing what they require of us during the ceremony of the gathering of the relics on the surface of Amazonia III, Commander Arking and myself along with Dauntless’ senior officers have been asked to attend.

Having all of my senior staff off ship has given me no small pause for concern especially given the volatile nature of our mission and the space through which we travel. With Commander Terra Arking giving counsel I have determined to leave Lt[JG] Tilar aboard in temporary command while the rest of the senior staff attends the ceremony. The lieutenant’s first foray into command will no doubt be exciting for him and very short as I plan to return the senior staff to Dauntless just as quickly as possible.

I want officially commend Commander Arking for her exceptional performance since becoming First Officer. Her professionalism and keen instincts have quickly made her an invaluable part of this crew. This is not to say I have any issues whatsoever with other officers. This crew and I have grown from a relative rag tag group of strangers thrown together by fate to a cohesive family capable of fulfilling any task set before us.

While I cannot shake the subtle feeling of dread I’ve had since the briefing, the crews’ performance during our transit to Amazonia III has been exemplary in the tough schedule of drills and simulations I have wrought upon them. Dauntless and crew are as ready as I can make them for the unknown that lies ahead. I pray that I have done enough.

Our imminent arrival at Amazonia III has me worried. The presence of all the VIP's along with the senior ship's officers have been requested to attend a ceremony on the surface where the sacred texts and perhaps other artifacts will be recovered and ultimately transported to Romulus.

The importance of these icons to both peoples is clearly evident. The issue is with what we will face on the planet. Have all the people who landed on Amazonia III died? What other mysteries might be afoot?

Because it's my duty to find this out I will, but I cannot shake the nagging feeling that all is not what it seems.

Stardate 21011.01

We arrived at Amazonia III without incident. After assuming a geostationary orbit over the coordinates provided by our guests an away team consisting of the Romulan Ambassador, the Vulcan delegation, myself, Commander Arking and our department heads with the exception of Lieutenant Tilar beamed to the surface.

In its own right Amazonia III is a lush largely jungle like world. A bit too temperate for the average human, those of us on the landing party found ourselves less than comfortable, but resolute in our determination to see the mission through.

Commander Khayri received minor injuries after being attacked by a small animal. Commander Arking was also slightly injured after an encounter with some of the plant life. Both officers should recover with no long term physical problems.

Having made our way to the prescribed site of the ruins containing the sacred documents the away team is now participating in a ceremony under the direction of our guests.

Perhaps it's just the physical discomforts of the planet, but I am anxiously awaiting the conclusion of the away mission and the continuation of our primary task of delivering our guests to the Romulan home world.

On a lighter note, I plan to enter a commendation for our sole Ferengi crew member, Ensign Brack. His work in creating a unique and very detailed holoprogram for use by the crew for recreation is having a positive effect on the morale of those crew members choosing to participate.

Commanding Officer's Log: Stardate: 21011.27 Commodore T.M.Wong recording

This entry find the away team including our Vulcan and Romulan VIPs still on the surface of Amazonia III.

This once innocuous seeming planet has become the stuff of nightmares.

Commanders Arking and Khayri's injuries turned out to be life threatening after all. Microbes carried by the animal that attacked Khayri and by th plants and soil that contaminated their wounds multiplied rapidly despite a standard broad-spectrum antibiotic dose and wound care.

Neurotoxins released by the microbes caused paralysis of certain muscles including those of respiration and locomotion dramatically disabling them during the ceremony being conducted by the Vulcans and Romulan Ambassador.

The ceremony was interrupted to treat our casualties and I'm thankful to report they seem to be out of danger and making good recoveries. I'm not looking forward to the Romulan Ambassador's assessment of our ruining their ceremony, but the safety of my crew is first priority.

Looking to take cover in a defensible position while our people recovered a likely place was discovered and we made to evacuate the party therein.

On our way we were intercepted by a fantastic group of large feline creatures that exhibited marked intelligence and some level of telepathy that allowed them to communicate with us and warn us away from our intended shelter as it was already in use as a nursery for their young.

Once we were able to communicate our peaceful intent the animals relaxed their threatening stance and seem to curiously watch us now.

Alarmingly, we have also just lost contact with Dauntless. Surely this is a mere technical issue and comms will soon be restored at which time I will decide whether to continue this away mission or not.

Commander Vaughn tells me an automated alarm from Dauntless had sounded indicated the possible hijacking of the ship. While I have to consider the possibility the alarm is correct, at this point in time I don't feel there is enough evidence to conclude Dauntless has been taken by hostiles. There were no hostile ships within sensor range on our arrival and I am quite confident in Lt Tilar and the Dauntless crew.

At this point I would like to officially commend the actions of MCapt Guarnere, Commanders Arking, Vaughn, Hawkens, and Khayri. These officers as well as their subordinates in this away team have performed their duties in a most exemplary manner and in best Star Fleet Tradition.

Our current priorities are to secure the away team until we can reestablish contact with Dauntless and keep our people healthy.

During the process of seeking food and shelter the away team found wreckage from old Vulcan shuttles on the surface. The skill of our engineers and others were nothing short of phenomenal as they literally took pieces of wreckage and made a single space worthy machine.

Once launched we made best speed to catch up to Dauntless which appeared to be on a course for Romulus.

In the meantime aboard Dauntless, the hostage crew was not idle. Tilar, Banks, Caldecott Brack, Darmar, ch’leave, Danebo, and Qal were tirelessly working to escape and recapture the ship. "After using command override functions to access Dauntless’ controls we initiated the release of anestizne gas into the ship. Everyone, including the terrorists incapacitated we beamed to the bridge and assumed control.

The horrors that have befallen my crew at the hands of the Vulcan extremists and their plan to create havoc with our hard fought peace were nearly more than I could bear. The Vulcan’s will be held in our brig until our arrival at Star Base Bravo where they will be turned over to authorities.

Having established contact with Star Fleet Command our intention to proceed directly to SBB for leave and refit has been approved. The crew still many in shock from the

happenings on the mission need some time off and the opportunity to seek counseling if they desire.

The Star Fleet personnel office advised me on the way in to base that my request to promote MCapt Guarne was approved. I was also advised the Major and his senior team would be transferred to the Marine contingent on Star Base Bravo.

I can only hope they have people in mind to take the places of the marines and the one hundred and seven others lost in action.

We are hours from arrival now, and I find myself looking forward to this shore leave.

First Officers log, Stardate 21010.06

It has been a while since I recorded a log. I think from being unsure of whether I would stay on the Dauntless or not. She has a fine crew and fine CO, but my inner turmoil was holding me back. Even when Commodore Wong had agreed to my insane request for a bathtub I still had my doubts about staying.

But now I guess I have made my decision. We arrived at Starbase bravo and now we have left. It was my last chance to actually leave the ship so now, whether I like it or not, my decision has been made.

So on to official business. Arriving at Starbase Bravo we were greeted by 2nd Fleet Commander zh'Matis. It was my first time meeting that sub species of Andorians and I have to say it put me on edge a little. I have never had any prejudice against telepaths, I still don’t, but I guess I just found the whole thing a little spooky.

She informed us that were going to be heading into Romulan space, the lack of a constant alert status and a weapon on my hip are now distant friends as she explained what our mission was. Months ago I would have scoffed at the idea and voiced what many would have been feeling. We should be hitting while they are hurting, but I am not a complete idiot. All of this is based on far more than just the Federation versus the Romulan Empire.

I was however a little concerned about having the Romulan ambassador aboard the ship. I know from my own feelings that some of the crew are still harbouring much resentment towards the Romulans and all we would need is for the Romulan ambassador to be attack here so I have ordered both the Marine Commander and the Chief of security to provide an “escort,” I have also assigned them to provide security for sensitive areas of the ship, just in case we are inspected. Even though the Admiral played down the terrorists you never know when and where they will strike so despite her almost brushing it off I am not going to take any risks.

So we are now arriving in orbit of Amazonia three, a planet where some artefacts from the Vulcans and of significant importance to the Romulan’s are. We are expected to go down and take part in a ceremony of some sort, I’m never any good with those and even the graduation ceremony from the academy bored me to death.

Terra was breathing heavily as she recorded her log, still affected by the infection she now carried.

“First Officers log, star date 21011.18. It appears most of the command crew are trapped on the planet surface of Amazonia III, Myself and Lieutenant Commander Khayri are both carrying an infection of some sort. He has been affected the worst and currently both Commodore Wong and Lieutenant Commander Hawkens are trying to treat us, I sure wish they would hurry up though.” There was a slight pause as Terra coughed a little.

“Now we find ourselves surrounded by the planets indigenous life forms, as a stand off ensues I find myself praying that our security detail can react fast enough to save us if things turn violent.”

Away team report.

Whilst on the planet Amazonia three, Lieutenant Commander Khayri and myself succumbed to some sort of alien bacterial infection or parasite due to injuries we sustained as the delegation from Vulcan and Romulan began their ceremony to access the ancient scripts they had come here for. (See attached medical records for details.) We were successful treated with help from the local wild life. Although primitive they seem to have a grasp of telepathy, which helped with communication, albeit on an almost purely emotional level.

During our affliction, efforts were made to contact the Dauntless, to get us aboard for medical attention however our efforts were fruitless and we shortly there after received an emergency signal transmission from the Dauntless signalling the ship was suffering a foot hold situation which left us on the planet in an obviously vulnerable position.

With little else to do and strange tricorder readings we set off in search of their source in the hope of finding someway to contact the Dauntless and find out what had happened. The source of the readings turned out to be some old shuttlecraft.

Using the old, very old, vessels on the planet belonging to the original migration fleet from Vulcan, Khayri and myself were able to cobble together a working shuttle and get into orbit to determine what had happened to the Dauntless.

The away team, consisting of myself, Commodore Wong, Lieutenant Commander Khayri, Lieutenant Commander Vaughn, Lieutenant Commander Hawkens and Lieutenant Moone have managed to retake the Dauntless. Using a modified tricorder and communicator we managed to send command code overrides to the Dauntless, initiating a level 5 general quarters, rendering the remaining crew and the intruders’ unconscious.

We have now begun the process of reviving the crew and confining the intruders to the brig.

This mission started off relatively well. Our job was to escort a Romulan and Vulcan delegation to Amazonia III to retrieve somekind of artefacts. Arriving there we were told that all the senior staff would be needed for a ceremony of sorts. Whilst I didn't neccessarily agree with such protocol we followed their request and beamed down with Commodore Wong taking the major lead in the ceremony. Whilst there we discovered that something had happened to the Dauntless as we couldn't contact her.

Also, Commander's Kahyri and Arking became infected by some form of virus. It was deemed important to find a secure campsite which myself, MCapt Guarnere and some of the Security detail moved off to find. During this we were approached by catlike creatures who appeared to have some sort of telepathy who warned us away from the cave we had selected. Apparently, this was because they had a family there and felt threatened. We moved off and they followed us, revealing a cure for the virus using some of the plants on the planet.

The next stage was finding a way off planet. Which we managed after discovering the wreckage of the original Romulans shuttles. Due to Nasir's excellent work we actually used one of these ancient shuttles to leave the planet. Once in space we discovered that the Dauntless had gone, we followed her and managed to get aboard using command codes to activate knock out gas.

Once aboard we found that Vulcan terrorists had taken the ship and were heading for Romulus. The other thing was, they had killed or murdered several of the crew during their invasion. I only hope that they will pay for their nefarious deeds once we get them to Starfleet Command. Personally, I'd like nothing more than sending the whole lot of them out an airlock.

Finally, we made it back to Starbase Bravo. I was surprised, though grateful, at the medals given to us from Minister Lern for our efforts during this last mission. Going through letters of condolence and saying how parents son's or daughter's had died 'In the line of duty' is never easy. But this was more poignant as some of my personnel had been murdered.

’A sigh’

Still, on a brighter note Caldecott and his team performed well and I have submitted commondations for those involved. Also, I have received a message to meet Captain Adaran on Bravo. What this is about I have no idea, I'll have to wait and see.

Transfer of the Vulcan prisoners has gone well and they are now in the tender hands of Bravo Security. Lets hope they find out why they did what they did.

What can I say? My meeting with Captain Adaran went well, it turns out that I am being promoted to Commander and offered the position as First Officer on the USS Columbia - a brand new ship.

To cap it all, my replacement is none other than LCdr Rolands, my former boss on the Yeager all those years ago. Needless to say I am exited and a little nervous at this new prospect.

Well, my first time back onboard a ship has gone pretty well so far. I've met and had the pleasure of promoting Ensign Caldecott, he seems to be a most keen and able junior officer. Ben had mentioned this before he left for the Columbia and had asked me to keep an eye on this young man.

The crew are all on a well deserved shore leave, as am I. But I thought it wise to catch up on a few things onboard before the crew return to duty. Who knows what the future will bring to the Dauntless, I hope something less traumatic than the last mission.

My first line should be dedicated to all of the crew on board the USS Dauntless for recapturing the ship from our captors. Without the quick thinking and dedication, most of us would most likely wouldn't be alive. I also like to thank my team Group C, Delta team for an outstanding job. Their valiant efforts were sentimental for me on my very first mission wearing a Star Fleet uniform. With that, I thank them wholeheartedly.

We found ourselves first stuck on deck 27 being confined to a make shift prison made out of our own bulkheads. Thankfully, we made out our 'prison' without any major harm to myself or others in my team. We were able to escape by firing onto the Vulcan guards and inevitably reach a maintenance hatch which took us ironically, to a maintenance tube.

After a few wrong turns and some backtracking we came upon a room, which was occupied earlier due to blood on a hatch. A computer was logged on with showed many different engineering codes. From there I had a member of my team who was more knowledgeable than myself on this subject see if he could decipher the codes.

After trying to hack into some insignificant systems, everything is a blur. I woke up on the deck with a doctor looking reviving me from my unconsciousness. I was told members on the ship were gassed which cause the blackouts. Now I am here recording the events into my personal log. Cleo, my fiance was able to locate me in the maintenance room on deck 27. Relieved was not the word, ecstatic is a much more fitting adjective. We are due to get married in June and I am looking forward to the occasion.

On a lighter note, I was recently promoted to Ensign. The new Chief of Security Lieutenant Commander Rolands gave me my new pips. I will not let him down.

Things has finally calmed down as we are heading to star base bravo for some much needed shore leave. The Romulan minister beamed on board to award the entire crew with medals. I received one for my efforts to overtake Vulcan extremist in anyway possible. Sadly, those who perished in wake of the terrorist were not present to receive there commendations. I could imagine that it will be a difficult job notifying families of our fallen comrades.

--Takes a sip of hot tea followed by a pause—Our new Chief of Security Lieutenant Commander Rolands seems good and verse in different aspects of security and tactics. Although I am saddened by Commander Vaughn departing on his new assignment, I am almost certain and confident that LCdr Rolands and I will also have a good working relationship.

I am also very excited about up coming shore leave with my fiance Lieutenant Cleo Banks. I am to meet her good friend Zenon, Doc, Tiny and her family. Let me honest, I am nervous cause I want to approve of me. I feel in my heart that I am right for her but, I also want her family and friends to see it as well.

In Conclusion, I am just very elated that this ordeal is behind us and we can move in with our future endeavors. We prevailed with some casualties and I am genuinely saddened by the outcome due to our losses. I am certain this catastrophe has made us stronger as a crew. I am getting things prepared for shore leave, I must go meet with Cleo. Until then...Ensign Caldecott, Theodore.

Have now settled in after transferring from the Starbase. The Dauntless sure is a large ship a person can easily lose their sense of direction.

Not sure if many of the senior officers expected to see a Ferengi onboard judging by the number of looks I was given.

I certainly made a mistake where the Commodore was concerned. Fancy telling him of all people that i was waiting for a senior officer.

Ensign Johnson saved the boredom by pointing out the work which required some hands. Sure saved just standing there waiting.

There are some VIPs onboard during this mission which happens to be my first on a starship of any kind. Unfortunately some of the VIPs happen to be Romulans. Anyways let's hope Starfleet know what they are doing.

During the journey to Amazonia III the Commodore had everyone go through various exercises which were successful.

Well as first missions go, that one was what i would say as a worst case scenario situation. The ship being taken over with most of us put into cells and another lot left stranded on a planet, and getting shot wasn't too fun either. Still it was in the leg and could have been worse.

I have to admit, that is quite a feat to pull off getting back the ship like we did. The senior crew getting some run downed ships going again and releasing a knock-out gas on the ship to retake it whilst we kept them distracted on the ship with escape attempts. Would have gone great but even though we were lucky enough to get the ship back, we weren't lucky enough to suffer from only minor losses.

We lost a good few hundred people. Either from the initial attack, public executions or from the re-taking of the ship. It was the first time so many things happened to me all in one mission. Getting taken hostage, having to kill someone, seeing people killed and getting shot. Not something I thought I would have to deal with all at once.

On the bright side, we have the ship back, all seems to be well for now and my leg is better. I do wish for the good people who died during the mission will get recognised in some way. They were just as good as me or even better yet they lost their lives. Sometimes I think that luck is a major factor in what we're doing. That and perseverance. To be able to look forward after what everyone has gone through is a commendable thing for this crew.

So to finish up I’m glad that I got assigned to this ship. I can't name a lot of situations like what we've faced and it's down to the fine crew and officers aboard this ship. I'm looking forward to an interesting and exiting future.

How to explain my first day on the bridge. Well i'll start a bit earlier.

Doctor Qal fixed my leg up. He did a great job. So good that I was able to return to duty after he was finished. SO on the bright side my first mission didn't turn out to be my last.

Once I got to the bridge I took my station. I was on the helm. Oh what an experience pioliting the ship. I mean I've been in simulations and such but man. Nothing compares to the real thing. The bridge crew were nice too. Got to meet the first officer and see the Commodore. There was a bit of banter towards me cause i'm the new guy and then I had to open my mouth and make a snarky comment. I got whipped hard by Commander Arking.

Not that I didn't deserve it. I definately did. Maybe if I said something as a point and not as a comment that I didn't mean then I would have been a bit more... less looking like a fool. Still she made a good point that you kind of don't pick up on during the academy. Now we're starfleet officers we need to be at a higher standard. I'll eventually get it down when it's okay to joke or make comments and when it's not okay. I'm sure someone's had a worse first day than I have. Definately.

Well the ship is in orbit over Romulus at the moment. I'm hoping to be going on our way soon so as we can get back to begining another mission. Not that their is anything wrong with what we're doing now. Just that my jobs going to be a bit limited till we have to do something. Anyway I think i'll turn in now. Need to get some well earned rest.

Official Mission Report.

Well it's been one hell of a mission. Finally on our way back to Starbase Bravo and it feels like we've been gone for years. We all went through a hell of a lot on this mission so i'm thinking the leave will be well used by everyone. Some for pleasure, some for therapy. I think i'll be okay. First thing i'll do though when I get off of here will be to drink a bottle of whiskey with some friends and probably talk about it when i'm drunk. If that doesn't help i'll figure out what to do.

Either way, this mission was one of those situations where things went from bad to worse. Getting the ship taken over by vulcans of all people to have the senior crew beamed to a planet and the rest of us being either killed or kept in cages. I walked away with a leg wound from a shot. I was one of the lucky ones. The death toll was higher than I expected it to be. I didn't think that they would be so ruthless and callice with the crew.

Anyway we got lucky. After a failed escape attempt and during the one me and the other people in my cell managed to get out of to cause another escape which began to fail when the vulcans started a shooting contest in the cargo bay, the senior officers apparently managed to get a ship working form the planet they were stranded on and get back to the ship. Well from there they used the master command codes to lower the shields and to release a knockout gas.

Well we were definately lucky. The longer or if they never showed up then more people would of died. Heck I could have died... Anyway I didn't. But when we went to the Romulan homeworld we were met with the Minister and he gave the crew all commendations. I mean that's something. If you were to look for something to stand out in your record that would be it.

Anyway we got our medals and made our way back to federation space. Overall I don't think that anyone could have done anything to improve on the situation. I mean I think things could have gone pear shapped and I might not be here along with everyone else on board this ship writting this log. Infact the ship would be used in terrorist attacks which could have lead to an all out war.

But it didn't happen that way and I think we did the best jobs we could aand the ship back in our hands along with the mefals shows otherwise.

This was my first mission on the Dauntless, and I am finding myself regretting that decision with all my heart and soul. While yes I did perform the impossible on the surface, I cannot...I will not take the credit. Everyone who I worked with has seen things I have never seen. I've never been fired at...I've never been, at all scared for my life before. These Engineers don't deserve someone from the Corps, they deserve someone from the fleet. They deserve someone who has been an Engineer aboard a ship in battle.

I sincerely do not feel like I deserve to be a Chief Engineer. I do believe that the Chief of Engineers made a mistake in believing that I am up to the challenge. Maybe I should have stayed on Earth, maybe had I never joined Star Fleet...I would have not felt so...useless...so...unworthy of something.

I will talk to the First Officer and ask her about what the procedures for a Chief Engineer to resign his commission with Star Fleet.

Stardate 21010.17

Engineering Officer’s Log Lt[JG] Jayal Darmar Stardate 21010.17

My start on this USS Dauntless was very low key. I nearly didn’t arrive as the ship was leaving on a new mission the day I came on board. The mission turns out to be into the heart of Romulan space after a stop at Amazonia III for some highly prized historical documents. I would not trust the Vulcans to give away such knowledge and wisdom for free. They must be getting something out of this for themselves. We arrived the day I finally had to report to the Chief Engineer, LCdr Khayri.

The interview was somewhat strange. Questions about how to carry out a terrorist attack on the Dauntless. And during the questioning he came very close physically. I know I’m an attractive Cardassian female but I was not giving him any intimate signals, so he won’t want to do that very often! He gave me a pep speech about what he expected and I found myself thinking I could follow this leader.

Suddenly he was called away to the transporter room, presumable for the away mission to the planet’s surface. The unusual thing is, or so the talk around engineering is, that all senior staff members are on the away mission. That is highly unusual. At the end of our meeting he left me in charge of all of Engineering. Finally I’ve been recognized for my skills and not over looked because I’m a Cardassian.

So as to show that I’m a worthwhile leader and able to handle the Engineering Department, I have chosen to personally check each units work on completion. This has made my tasks time consuming, but by the end of the day I should have a very good idea who I can trust and who are the more competent engineers.

As to our mission, I must admit my heart is on the other side of the Quadrant. I was hoping for deployment near the Cardassian boarder. There I would be able to discreetly make enquires about my father and his whereabouts. Star Fleet seems to be keeping me as far away from my home planet as possible. As it is I’m heading into Romulan space. I have observed that the humans aboard, especially those who fought in the last Federation-Romulan war are more xenophobic about Romulans than Cardassian are about themselves and everyone else. Perhaps I should keep my opinions about the other species aboard to myself. If the privacy of this log where to be breached it could be very damaging to my career.

Log ends.

Engineering Officer’s Log Lt[JG] Jayal Darmar Stardate 21012.18

My longing for Cardassia still remains as the usually work for Engineering Officers stated, but to my surprise after a brief meeting with the CE LCdr Khayri place me in-charge of engineering until his return from the planets surface Amazonian III. The Dauntless was to stop here to retrieve something of high historical value for the reunification of the Vulcan and Romulan species. Personly I don't really know why Star Fleet bothers with them.

Whilst on the bridge, and all the senor staff on the planet surface, the ship was over run by Vulcans. I was knocked unconscious for tring to communicate with the Captain on the surface. I have since found out that my attemps where unsuccessful.

Engineering Officer’s Log Lt[JG] Jayal Darmar Stardate 21102.21

I continue my Personal Log from Star date 21012.18.

Lt Tilar and I managed to avoid capture and make our way to Deck 31, and found the holodeck. It had been powered down and close by the Vulcan intruders who had ceased the ship, and incarcerated the crew. The ship was on its way to Romulus, I found out later.

At the Holodeck myself and Lt Tilar gigged the powering system to steal power from all over the ship to power a computer terminal in the Holodeck, and not be detected, from which Lt Tilar could sabotage the ship and release the crew, if we didn't get court first. This strategy of mine seem to work but both of us where rendered unconscious by an anesthetic placed into the atmospheric filtration system. I felt we had been recaptured or even that it was death for us both. This risk we both knew and where willing to take.

I became conscious on the bridge and to my surprise, after initially suspecting that we were still in the hands of the Vulcans, the senior staff had retaken the ship. That (Cardassian word meaning female dog on heat) was lying on the floor next to me. When I was fully conscious I took my (Cardassian Word meaning literally 'blood justice' similar to the earth code "An eye for an eye.") this was for the phaser butt headache she had given me when the Vulcans ceased the bridge.

The Commodore was not please. I suspect I will be reprimanded or demoted for may actions. Whilst I more often than not agree with Federation policies and action, sometimes Cardassian ways are more satisfying and give a quick result.

I have been place on report by the first officer, Cdr Arking and order to attend counselling with the ships counselor, one Lt Eden Moore an Edo of all species!

Whilst they have a unique justice system which I at times admire, their promiscuity does not impress me. Their custom of hugging people and invading person space I find abhorrent. But is seem I must endure this idiosyncrasies of the various species aboard Dauntless if I am to have any chance to use my position in Star Fleet at some time in the future to gain access the Cardassian home world and find my father.

So it is off to counseling I go, no matter how unnecessary and ..... (there was along pause in the recording as Jayal struggled with the right federation standard word. She knew how to say it in Cardassian.)

I have also been assigned permanently to the bridge crew. This can only be under the influence of Cdr Arking on my DH LCdr Khayri. They don't trust me. So I have to be on the bridge for the senior staff to watch my every move.

Father it will be all worth it if in time to come I find you alive, and can get you out of prison and out of Cardassia, until it is open and free again.

Receiving a medal from the Romulan High Command is not an experience I wish to go through again. But I did so graciously out of respect for my crew mates. Although I did let the Romulan Ambassador know I did it of them and not Romulus. After completing the mission and fighting of the Vulcan intruders and returning the artefacts and personnel to Romulus itself, we where considered heroes. It will take some time for that to sink in to this Cardassian skin.

I attended my first and I might add last counselling session with that.... Lt Moore. She tried to interrogate me and use emotional blackmail. I fear someone is reading my personal logs and has discovered my plans. Still I pursue a steady course to return to the planet of my birth some day and rescue my father. As soon as I am released form duties and given leave I will travel to Bajor to see my mother and good friend Vet Quaden.

This may be my last log. I may never return depending how my plans go. I would like to say that apart from some minor individuals I have the greatest respect for the crew of USS Dauntless especially Lt Tilar and LCdr Khayri who I might add seems to be very understanding. Commodore Wong seem to be more gracious that his FO.

For those who may read this in the future, I go to my toughest assignment yet, I fear all I have gained in Star Fleet I will may loose, but the prise is worth it.

After the refit, we accepted our new mission, which is the transport of an envoy of Vulcan Diplomats, and the Romulan Ambassador. I have been placed in temporary command of Dauntless, while the other senior officers are planet-side on Amazonia Three. I look for an uneventful bridge watch, and must admit that I am somewhat uncomfortable with one diplomat in particular. I will discuss him later, and now must return to the bridge, where my presence is needed.

But before i depart, I must note with a deep amount of sorrow the departure of Janus Chapel, who, after disappearing from Dauntless, only adds to the list of Colleagues that I have had while on Dauntless. Tam Stadi, When I was a mere Midshipman, Thomas Brewer, while I was promoted to ensign, and then, Janus Chapel, up until recently.

I also must discuss my worry in regard to the Vulcan-Romulan Unification. Our people are now too different to unite, under any circumstances. They left our planet, after a bloody war, which claimed the lives of many, including Surak, and now, after they have become a mysterious people, cloaked in treachery, and shrouded in deceit, they wish to ask our assistance when their homeworld, along with the Reman world, are threatened by a supernova? I detest the Romulans, now more than ever, due simply to the fact that they resort now, in their time of need, to diplomacy, after years of shooting down Vulcan ships, mainly diplomatic shuttles. This hypocrisy is why we cannot trust them. That is all I will say on the matter.

Currently I am somewhere unknown on the ship, after jumping through a deck hatch opened by Ms. Darmar. Prior to that, we were being held in the cargo bay, by the Vulcan intruders. I do not know what Miss Darmar is planning to do now, but if we can disable all security systems onboard, we may be able to mount a counter attack. For now, I am entering the unknown, and perhaps delving more and more into madness...

This has been a particularly traumatizing mission, plagued with death, torture, terrorism, and everything else that seems to follow the Romulans as they go. Nothing seems sacred when they enter a situation. Even Logic can be disregarded by the most astute of all Vulcans. I only hope that we can find a way to solve this problem, and that we can escape without any more deaths. Leaving me in Command was a bad desicion. To command, one must be bold, not logical, and one must take action, not negotiate. I have failed this mission. Despite the outcome.

It has been an interesting mission indeed. I have now seen, first hand, the effects that a radical political agenda can have on even a Vulcan mind. Beautiful logic has been reduced to cold, ruthless efficiency, and lack of compassion entirely. While I disagree with their tactics, I concur with their beliefs about the unification.

I am now on the bridge, with the newly returned senior staff, who, to use an earth saying 'saved my •••', by beaming aboard and applying nerve gas to the ship's ventilation systems. I am grateful, and I am more so relieved, that this ordeal is over. The next shore leave I have, I must go to Vulcan and visit my father, to see what the current political condition is. I fear a deterioration of our logic, but my fear may be premature.

I did note, however, several exceptional officers, who behaved with the conduct required for this situation, and who set a fine example for the crew.

Brack, our Ferengi tactical officer, who sacrificed part of himself to distract the Vulcans,

Cleo Banks, who led the cargo bay hostages in a revolt after I fled,

and Finally, Jayal Darmar, without whom, I would have been trapped in the cargo bay until the senior crew arrived.

These three officers have proven an immense dedication to Starfleet, and I will be sure to speak on their behalf, for their benefit, in any situation that may arise.

Now, all I may do is hope that I alone may bear the responsibility for the 107 crew deaths, and countless injuries that occurred under my 'command'. As Illogical as it may sound, Hope is all that we Vulcans may have left.

I am going to ask the Commodore if I may speak at his trial, on behalf of the crew onboard the Dauntless at the time of the attack. I will also implore him to let me interrogate Tirav further.

I need to go to the bridge now, so that I may help with the repairs in any way possible. I may also need to choose a new sub department head. My Chief Biologist was killed in the attack. Ens. Karr will not be forgotten. May she have peace.

It has been a long and painful mission by every aspect of the phrase. I am glad, however, to see it come to a close. While much of the crew enjoys our shore leave, I may stay on Dauntless, but my plans as to that are not yet decided. I might return to Vulcan, or accompany one of the junior officers on a trip. Regardless, there is much to do and little time to do it in. I must also speak to Miss Banks, who I have asked to meet me in what is now mere minutes.

I cannot help but worry about Cleo Banks. She is an exemplary officer, and if I am ever transferred off Dauntless, I will ensure that she takes my post. I hope that she does not exhibit guilt about the going ons on board.

My first mission is proving to be an interesting one. I have yet to find out what these Vulcan's really want, other than to stop all connection's to the Romulans. I think that is just ridiculous, considering every species is tied to another. There are no way to stop that these days.

They also seem well rehearsed and very prepared. One has to wonder if they sent someone to the ship to spy, from the way they know how our ship is run.

I continue to question them, though as I said they are well rehearsed and ready to answer anything. I can only hope that someone will formulate a plan to get us out of this mess, but as of now I've been asked not to do anything by my DH.

I hate this feeling, the feeling of helpless want. I think the worst thing of all is a force that is so convinced they are right they won't see reason. I think Yeats said it best when he said, "An intellectual hatred is the worst.".

Let me start this log by saying, I'm glad to be revived by my own crew and not some blasted crazed Vulcan. Second, I feel a deep sense of guilt in this moment, especially for the officer that was killed because of my actions. Is it true, that old saying, it was for the greater good? Right now I just have no idea.

My thoughts are of my fiancé Theo, and if he made it through all of this. I also can't help but wonder how Lt Tilar must feel at this moment, knowing he was in charge when it all happened. I don't know if I could handle the pressure of that, but I do know this wasn't anyones fault. When this all started if anyone would have told me this would be the outcome I wouldn't have believed it, and now here I am facing it.

I will have to speak to the Commodore, about not blaming Tilar for this massacre. He did an excellent job, considering the odds against us. I only wish I could have done more, but I guess that isn't the point.

Now, if I can get away I will find Theo, hopefully in one piece or so help me someone will pay!

Its strange, before I joined the academy I never cared about taking care of anyone but myself, now I blame myself for him losing his life. I guess everyone is capable of change.

I haven't taken the time to even change my dirt, ripped uniform, I seem to have even forgotten about it until just now. My mind is whirling with memories, some that may not even be my own. I dare not touch anyone and add to the ones already floating around in my head.

I want to get back to the base, have a drink and a shower, then plan my wedding. Theo and I may even go on a trip to Earth, help Zenon plan some things. He says he doesn't need help but it is my wedding. I spoke briefly with Theo about the mission, he is one of the few people I trust. I would truly be lost without him.

Well, this mission proved to be the worst ordeal Ive gone through since the time I nearly died. In some ways, I wish I had died to save me the trouble of being haunted by people. I got an innocent man killed, and for what? I did escape or even make a difference. I had a meeting with Lt Tilar about the mission, and he assured me I did well. Yet, I still feel this hole in my heart, a hole I filled with guilt.

I plan to take a medal back to the officers family, and hope they will not be devastated by the news. The medals we were given from the Romulans seem bitter sweet, but at least the one I take back to this family will be well deserved. I can still hear the click of that gun going off, and see the view I had through the crack between two boxes.

You just never know when its going to end, especially in this line of work. It scares me to think of all the danger Theo is in, being in security. But, its our duty and we love it, then again I don't love this part of it.

(A sort pause, followed by a soft sigh)

On a good note our trip to Earth is all set, Zenon has arranged it all. I'm excited because I will be getting away, but when I come back I have to make a trip to Bajor and fix what Ive done.

The worst part is I know how it feels, sitting there waiting for your father. You dont know if hes coming back and then one day they just tell you hes gone. Not saying goodbye is the most painful thing to endure. Nobody gave my father a medal but he deserved one, he worked harder than anyone at his job.

Alright, Theo will be back soon and we need to pack. I'm going to replicate some of my old clothes to take with me.

We’ve arrived at Amazonia III. In a little while, the senior staff, our diplomats, and, no doubt, a security team will be beaming down to the planet. The diplomats are in search of artifacts that will help to smooth over relations with the Romulans. One can only hope. I’m not expecting any medical emergencies while we’re down there, but I’m planning on being prepared. I’ve made up a special medikit for the trip with more medication and tools than the standard loadout.

During my absence, Dr. Qal will be in charge. I am confident that he will be able to handle any situations that may arise. Then again, I’m not really expecting much to happen. Let’s just hope this is an uneventful outing for all involved.

At the moment, it's unclear if this log will be a part of the official mission logs, or if it will remain on my person only to be discovered at some later date. I know that I should remain hopeful, as I have made it through much worse before, but the fact remains that our current situation is dire at best. The fact is, we have lost contact with the Dauntless, effectively stranding us in a hostile environment with little means of survival. Suffice it to say, we were unprepared for this excursion. Even I was under the impression that this would be a simple stop on the way too Romulus.

As it stands, I have already cracked open my medkit twice. Both Cdr Arking and LCdr Khayri were infected by a local parasite. Had it not been for the captain’s help, I’m sure one of them, if not both, would have been lost. Of course, Cmdr Wong was not immune from trouble, and an electrolyte balance caused him to lose consciousness and fall. I helped him regain consciousness, fixed up his split lip, and began the process of properly rehydrating him. He’s looking a little better now, so I’ve left him in the care of our new ship’s counselor.

While some of the others are focusing on how to get us off the planet, I’m more concerned about making sure we’re still alive so that we can. Whatever is happening up there on the Dauntless, I can only hope that they are faring better than those of us on the planet.

We’ve encountered a bit of luck. Our ancient Romulan shuttle got us safely off the planet and some quick thinking by the crew got us back on the Dauntless. Unfortunately, due to the presence of intruders that far outnumbered our away team, we were forced to flood the ship with anethezine gas. Clean up is going to take a while, but hopefully we will be able to rouse the rest of the crew before it wears off. I’ve already dispatched a few teams with ADTH to wake up personnel in key areas.

On a side note, due to recent events, I feel that our crew, as a whole, needs to take a little more interest in their own health. While medical technology allows us to perform some rather amazing feats, the medical staff on this ship are not miracle workers. I’m beginning to feel that our medical instructions are often overlooked or, at best, followed half-heartedly. Just on the shuttle ride back to the Dauntless, I had to treat a few severely dehydrated individuals; individuals who had been told to drink water and keep hydrated while on the planet’s surface. Following this simple command could have saved a lot of hassle, and though they lived, they wouldn’t have risked death had they done as they were told.

As such, I’m going to recommend that the entire crew attend a mandatory series of lectures on following doctors’ orders. I’ll present the idea to the captain once the situation onboard has returned to normal.

We are currently orbiting Romulus, taking some time to transfer the delegates to the planet’s surface. It has been a long trip and we have suffered some considerable losses; 107 crew members lost their lives. It’s a lot to take in. Roughly five percent of our crew wiped out in the span of a few hours. It’s hard to reconcile that kind of loss. As a doctor, I know that death is an inevitability, a simple fact of life. Yet, in the back of my mind, I can still here dad’s voice, telling me how death and Starfleet go hand-in-hand. Roving bands of death, he would call them, hiding beneath a banner of science and exploration. I sometimes wonder if he was right.

On a lighter note, I’ve been enjoying the results of my pre-mission surgery. I was in 10-Forward earlier, went up to the bar to order an uttaberry smoothie, and noticed the pretty girl standing near me was Betazoid. Full on ••••••• Betazoid. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen those tell-tale black eyes. There she was, standing right next to me, and there was no pain. Not even the slightest tingle. I am truly indebted to Kieran for performing that surgery on me. Going to have to see about getting him a bottle of Romulan ale or something while we’re here.

On the home front, I’ve got word from Quentin that Kayla is definitely joining the Academy. I don’t know how she’s managed to keep mom and dad from finding out. Then again, she was always a lot more subtle than Quentin and I ever were. In any case, I’m happy to hear that she’s going. No word yet as to what she’s planning on majoring in, but it’s still early. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to see her before she ships off to school.

Official Mission Report.

Our mission has concluded and we are on our way back to Starbase Bravo for some much needed shore leave. Despite the success of our mission, the mood in Sickbay has been quite somber for the past few days. I do not believe that there is a person aboard who was not affected by the loss of life we suffered during this trip. The counseling staff certainly has their work cut out for them.

The Dauntless was given a fairly standard diplomatic transport mission. Granted, a diplomatic mission to Romulus is not a normal destination for a Starfleet vessel. The delegates, a mixture of Vulcans and Romulans, requested that we fly to Amazonia III on our way to Romulus. The planet held an artifact of great significance to the Romulan people, one which, when offered to them, would hopefully make the peace process much easier. The side trip had a ceremonial aspect to it, which the senior officers were requested to participate in.

After beaming down to the planet, leaving the ship in Lt Tilar’s command, we located the ancient site and procured the artifact. There were a few mishaps with the local wildlife, as the medical logs will indicate, but for the most part, it was an uneventful trip. It is at this point, however, that things took a turn for the worse. I do not know the specific details of the takeover of the ship by hostile forces, but I do know that it took place and that the resulting actions left 107 crew members dead, and countless others injured.

Failing to raise the Dauntless from the planet surface, we combated the humidity, heat, and the effects of severe dehydration. One of our away team members found an old Romulan shuttle and we were able to make it work. Not finding the Dauntless in orbit where we had left her, we eventually tracked the ship down. As a means of retaking the ship, I authorized the use of anesthezine gas, which was administered through the Dauntless’ life support systems. The away team was able to beam aboard the Dauntless and deal with the hostile forces without any further loss of life.

Shortly thereafter, we completed our trip to Romulus and the delegates were beamed down to the planet.

I am not sure where to begin. This entire mission has been screwy from the get go. Although, one positive thing happened. I was promoted to Asst. Chief Medical Officer while enroute to Amazonia III.

Once we arrived, it seems our guests, who happen to be Vulcan decided to take Sickbay hostage. With the CMO, whom I am sure is on the planet's surface, has left, I am left in charge.

We have had multiple injured show up in droves. One Ensign I treated was severely burned and had a massive fracture in her arm that made me question if I would be able to save her life, let alone her arm. However, the surgery was successful.

There are two Security officers here with us in Sickbay, but they came in injured and were stripped of their weapons. It seems that our captors are very leery of us. There are currently 10 heavily armed guards in the room with us. I want to initiate a retake of the Sickbay at least. I hate being under such restrictive conditions.

The question remains, what do we do....?

Well, I must say that this last mission has been a trying one. Once the Dauntless was taken hostage, Sick Bay was locked down and all Medical personnel on board were turned into hostages.

Thankfully, I was able to persuade our captors to allow me to treat the wounded. I was able to treat an Engineering Ensign with a severely burned and broken arm, which seemed almost beyond saving. She is recovering nicely.

One thing happened though, that really troubles me... One of our Orderly's seems to have knowingly injected himself with a medication that he is allergic to, in order to cause a diversion. I do not and can not condone his actions. I have requested that Dr. Hawkins allow me to call a mandatory meeting of all Medical Personnel. We need to go over some safety and anti-hijacking procedures. I also intend to reprimand the Orderly for unnecessarily putting his life at risk. If not for the EMH having been activated, he would have died, because the ship was gassed through the climate control system, and we were all rendered unconscious. He almost died before anyone was able to save him.

I have been promoted to Lt[JG]. I am happy and thankful for working with such a great crew on such a wonderful ship.

I am beginning to wonder if Vulcans are trained in how to screw up Star Fleet equipment.

I also am very happy with the crew of this wonderful ship. We all seem to be a very strong and close group of people. I enjoy working with them all.

On a lighter note, my promotion was made official along with several others in 10 Forward. I was also awarded the Star Fleet Gold Star for my actions in the last two missions. I cannot wait to send word to my family, back on Trill of the recent events of my life on board the Dauntless.

This mission has been one that while I wish I could forget it, I highly suspect that I ever will.

En route to Amazonia III, our Vulcan VIPs decided to take control of the ship and hold us hostage. LCdr Hawkens was on the surface with the Away Team, so I was the CMO on board the Dauntless. I and my staff were sealed in Sick Bay and held at gunpoint.

After the Away Team realized something was wrong on board the Dauntless, they set off the Anesthetine gas in our life support system, and we were able to retake control.

Now that the whole ordeal is finally over, I have learned that while the Medical team and I were sealed up in Sick Bay, these Vulcan pieces of trash were murdering our comrades.

Among our dead was a joined Trill, and his symbiont was lost forever, taking with it more than 1000 years of Trill history and memories.

The loss of our crew mates has left a large hole in our souls. I am now faced with the duty of informing the Star Fleet Ambassador to Trill that one of our symbionts is lost forever. I am not looking forward to being the bearer of this news.

Looking back at this mission, it kind of bring one's own mortality into focus. Not only for the Qal symbiont, but also my own....

I have requested from Dr. Hawkens, that should my life be lost, to do everything in his power to ensure that Qal is not lost as well.

Dr. Hawkens is a magnificent physician, and I trust he will.

After we arrived at Romulus, the Minister of Information awarded the entire Dauntless crew Romulan Medals. I believe that the one that was awarded to me is the equivalent of the Star Fleet Gold Star. I am almost ashamed to accept this award when we were powerless to save so many of our own.

Personal log: Marine Captain Richard Guarnere reporting.

Stardate: 21010.16

This report may not be deemed appropriate for a Marine officer, but following the details of the mission we have been sent on, if I don’t vent my feelings this way then I will end up blowing up in front of crew and our guests.

We were docked at Starbase Alpha following our last mission for a little time, but then fleet decided to re-arrange their ships and the Dauntless was put into the second fleet, so that meant moving to Starbase Bravo.

When we arrived there, we were met by the Commander in charge of the second fleet, Commodore zh’matis, she headed the mission brief and we were told that following the end of the war with the Romulans, the Dauntless was going to be host to a group of Vulcan diplomats that we were doing to ferry to Romulus.

Why is it that Vulcan always thinks in an illogical way, the Federation had been engaged in a brutal war with the Romulans for a reasonable long time and millions of people were killed.

I lost a lot of people under my command during my tender on Carraya four, so this isn’t the mission that I am going to like and I think that I am going to have to bite my tongue on multiple occasions.

There is likely that during our trip to Romulus we are going to be searched to make sure that we aren’t carrying anything illegal so Commodore Wong had asked for both the Marines and the Ships security teams to work together to both make sure the our guests has escorts everywhere they go and also we make sure the there is a visual presents in the main areas of the ship, I have put up a rota for the Marines, so that things should flow more easterly.

Ohh almost forgot... We are going to stop over at a planets called Amazonia three to collect some sort of documentation that we have been told was left there since the days when the original trip from Vulcan to Romulus and we are to collect it and take it with us to our final destination.

It is a surprise that since the Romulans started their culture about two thousand years ago, they haven’t workout how to live co-operatively with other races in the galaxy.

Stardate 21102.17

Marine Commanding officer's personal log: Marine Captain Richard Guarnere reporting. Stardate 21102.17.

We collected the sacred artifacts from Amazonia three, during this time Commander Arking and Lieutenant Commander Khayri seed to have been infected with something, we treked thought the planet to what we hoped might have been a safe place to hold up, but was stopped enroute by a trio of tiger like animals.

From what I couls make out they were able to commnicate throught telepathy. We found out that the cave in which we were heading was infact the animals home and inside where the puppies of this creatures, so we decided to venture in the other direction towards a matallic signiture, when we got there we discovered some extreamly old shuttle craft that we think may have been left over from the original landings.

These two craft were useless for transportation, but following further scans there was another craft located, Cdr Khayri worked wonders in getting the craft operational, using parts from the unworking craft to fix the working on.

When things were up and running, everyone got onboard the shuttle and we took off from the planet. We got into orbit and found to our shock that the Dauntless wasn't in orbit and when we managed to track the ship we found that it was heading on a direct course to Romulas, but at impulse speed only.

This was when I started to wonder what was going on and I came up with two opitions: Members of the crew had gone rogue and was taking the ship on their own mission or that some group of faction had taken command of the ship and was going to use it for their own agenda.

While heading towards the Dauntless, I needed to have a conversation with somebody with a logical mind and the only person who I could think of was the ship counsellor Lieutenant Eden Moone, after tracking her down the only place we could have a private talk was in one of the sonic shower unit. The conversation managed to sort out my thinking and I was able then to return to the bridge of the craft and do my job with a sharper perspective.

Where was a funny incident while me and Eden while we were in the shower talking, for a few seconds somebody managed to activate the water section of the shower and we both got soaked, it was extreamly funny, this incident added to the a feeling that I have not experianced in my left, affection, this woman seemed to be able to make me feel relaxed and able to talk about things that are bothering me in a non perfessional way, I will have to have some more conversations with Eden.

Right where were we: Following our finding of the ship, we managed to devise a plan to use prefix code to drop the shields, then command the ship to activate enviromental system to knockout all the people on the ship, when this was done, then when it was confirmed that all the life forms we beamed over onto the bridge.

Following this we secured the enemy on the bridge and we also found out that they were Vulcan, but it might sound strangem, but in all my years I have never meet a Vulcan that would do something like this, so I am wondering if there wasn't a Romulan involvement in this event.

With the rest of the marines, I exited the bridge and went directly to the barracks to find the rest of the marine detachment, I was able to find some of them, but not all, I accessed the main terminal and brought up the list of marines on that ship and with the help of the sensors I was able to work out that I have lost seven marines, I am not sure if they were killed in battle defending the ship or were murdered. I hope that the died defending the ship like a soldier should do.

Now I am left with the worse thing a Commanding officer has to do and that is write a communique to the loved ones.
