Dauntless Mission 14: "The Center Seat"

From Federation Space - Official Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Dauntless was assigned a mediocre task of escorting an Ambassador, along with his Chief Diplomat to Celes II. Ambassador Karis and Chief Diplomat Gav were to negotiate the planet's rich dilithium source in order to help Star Fleet build more ships. The toll that the war with the Krynar took on Star Fleet couldn't come at a worse time. The Ambassador's job was to replenish Star Fleet with the rich mineral amongst other things.

While the Dauntless was en-route to Celes II, a Bird of Prey appeared from out of nowhere and attacked the Federation vessel with great precision. From all outward appearance, it would seem that the Bird of Prey knew exactly where to pinpoint their weapons, causing a great deal of confusion to the crew.

During the attacks, they hostile BoP managed to beam Captain Torgh and Ambassador Karis off the Dauntless. This prompting Commander Theodore Caldecott to take command of the Dauntless, also elevating his friend, Griffin Wright to assume duties as Acting First Officer.

The Bridge crew along with Engineering worked diligently to get the ship moving while others pondered what just occurred. With further investigation, it was determined that a crew member gave the Dauntless' specs to the hostile vessel. It was later found out that the traitor was Petty Officer Weaver.

The new Chief of Security, Roana Taelor spear-headed the investigation and revealed through an interrogation that Weaver's family was being held captive. The only way he can ensure their safety was to the betray the Dauntless' crew.

A litter later, the Dauntless received an encrypted message from the Captain himself, explaining who was the master mind behind the attack. Ambassador Karis was the one behind it all and was ultimately killed by Torgh. The Commanding Officer also exerted that it was too dangerous to extract him and they should continue on with their objective. Caldecott whom was Acting CO agreed with Torgh and gave orders to continue on with the mission as planned.

Surprisingly, the Science console received an anomaly of some kind. A probe was launched in the Dauntless' direction before they reached Celes' II orbit and was later revealed that the probe did contain a life-form. The manned probed did turn out to be Captain Torgh and with Caldecott's instruction, Lieutenant Murphy was able to beam him on-board with no issue.

With the Captain back on the Dauntless, Chief Diplomat Gav was able to beam onto the planet and conduct the negotiations himself.

Commander Theodore Caldecott, Acting Commanding Officer USS Dauntless, CA1553 recording...

The Dauntless lost its Captain emeritus, Nat Lornak for personal reasons that can be found in his retirement files. With the loss of Nat, the mighty Dauntless was assigned a new Commanding, Captain Torgh.

When he was officially named our incumbent CO, lots of talk commenced around the galaxy. It was irrelevant in my opinion and none of my business how he magically appeared from the departed. From what I gathered in my sole opinion, he was someone who was more than capable of taking command of a starship.

(A silent pause was heard when Theo took a sip from a glass)

Our mission dictated that we escort Ambassador Karis along with Chief Diplomat Gav to Celes II. There, the dignitaries were to negotiate diluthium use on behalf on the Federation. Since our recent war with the Krynar, the precious metal is ever being depleted and the Federation needs more for our ships.

It sounded like a tedious objective, which it was. Especially sending a Heavy Cruiser for diplomatic purposes is insane. Our fleet houses smaller ships that could have proctored this mission. Anyway, who am Ito say what ships do what. While we were enroute to Celes II, Captain Torgh conducted roundthe clock drills. It was much needed training and it was feasible since our mission wasn't backbreaking.

I pulled Bridge duty while the Captain was in his Ready Room when we were attacked by a Klingon Bird of Prey. First, I thought it was part of the drills he's been conducting. When a report was called that he and Ambassador Karis were beamed off the Dauntless, I know it was all to real.

The BoP targeted us with precise accuracy, hindering our port nacelle and damaging our warp corp. If that doesn't sound bad enough, they managed to also beam aboard a bomb in our shuttlebay. When the explosion occurred, all shuttles and runabouts were immediately destroyed. Shuttlebay as of now is still off limits.

With the Captain missing, along with the Ambassador, this left me as acting Commanding Officer of the ship. Gav was immediately notified and met with me on the Bridge.

(Audible laughter was heard)

There is something I am missing out. Gav and I have a little history since we met on a Tellarite Mining Facility back while I was assigned to the Gettysburg. It was at that time he was 'enlightened' by the beast and sided with those aggressors. To make a long story short, my security team was able to rescue Gav and some of his colleagues. He still has some issues with me I suspect.

Regardless of his personal issues, he still needs to conduct negotiations on the Federation's behalf. It is not my intentions to stunt to that process.

That the Bridge crew with pondering questions. Who, what, when, where, why, and how did all of this transpire. We all combined our heads and tried to figure out different avenues in revealing the attackers. Lieutenant Commander

Taelor had the bright idea of comparing shield frequencies, checking anything that may pop up. Her proposal proved to be successful as we were able to narrow down our comparisons to a Petty Officer Douglas Weaver.

She was dispatched to track him down in one of the transporter rooms which she was successful. Purportedly, he passed out when he caught eye of her security team. He was subsequently taking to one of security's interrogation room. There he sung like a choir boy, offering information as to why he corresponded with people on Argelia.

Everything is noted on my official report so there is no need to get into specifics. We do have something promising to piggy back off of presently.

(There was brief silence followed by tapping on a desk)

Reports from Engineering has been favorable as of late. Keeping in mind how badly our ship was rendered, they are making great progress.

(Further tapping ensued)

Oh...how can Iforget. Sickbay reported an outbreak of some strand of flu. I still haven't been handed an official report from Doctor Fritz but earlier, Sickbay experienced some chaos. A murder/suicide occurred while the medical staff were treating wounded crew members. I am sure I'll get an earful of information when I finally meet with the CMO face to face. She locked it down, seemingly trying to keep anyone from leaving or entering. In my opinion, it may have been a bit drastic but, I don't blame her for the quick thinking reaction.

I am due back on the Bridge as I need to gather updates and plan our next move. My expectations are to bring Gav to Celes II and locate Captain Torgh along with the Ambassador. If those two could be accomplished, the later being the most important. Luck would not be the best adjective to describe the feat. Until next time....Acting Captain Theodore out.

Captain's Log Supplemental

Commander Theodore Caldecott, Acting Commanding Officer USS Dauntless recording.

We have been pushing over bodies to the limits these past few days. It is my regret that we did not find the exact location of our kidnapped Captain but, there is hope that he is still alive.

Lieutenant Starnault received a weak signal (most likely, would've been ignored by most vessels) that originated purportedly, 56 light years away. This happened while Lieutenant Murphy comprised a map of possible cites where Captain Torgh might be held captive. To my chagrin, there were too many places to conduct a proper search.

After looking at various places, Lance received another weak signal which was coded and abbreviated. The CSO did all he could and it was divulged that the message was in fact sent from Captain Torgh.

In the transmission, it was founded that Ambassador Kiras was behind the kidnapping all along. I must not go into details for the sake of confidentiality but, I can say this...Kiras has been dealt with from what I read. He then eventually handed over to Klingon Rebels; a faction of random wrongdoers.

The message also included a name which I will not reveal unless I am subpoenaed to do so. The name he revealed could supply us with help and some information. It is our duty and my order that the Dauntless continue with its current operation to Celes II. We are within arm's reach of the planet and hopefully, no other funny business will ensue once we arrive.

An additional log will be included if an abnormality arises. If not, this voice will be heard when we are enroute back to Star Bravo. This is Acting Captain Theodore Caldecott of the USS Dauntless.

End log.

Captain's Log

Commander Theodore Caldecott, Acting Commanding Officer USS Dauntless recording.

I am happy to say that the Dauntless is now in orbit around Celes II. There was no need to apply another supplemental log as this is the mission's debriefing log.

The crew and myself were chugging along to Celes II when we received word of an unknown object enroute to our bearing. Diplomat Gav stormed onto the Bridge and was the primary to realize the anomaly. Upon further investigation by myself, Wright, Starnault, and Murphy; we concluded that it was a probe.

This probe was built with various alien components, needless to say; it contained a lifeform. Mulling through previous evidence, it was my gut feeling that the probe wasn't an immediate threat.

Lieutenant Murphy was quick to point out that the lifeform might be (an audible exaggerated cough could be heard)Captain Torgh.

With all the preponderance of evidence, along with a message dispatch verified to be the Klingon, she was correct.

That damned Captain managed to find himself in a probe heading to Celes II. If I were a betting man, it was a sabotage attempt. Perhaps to falter the delegations happening on that planet.

Thankfully, Torgh was transported onto the Dauntless with haste and unharmed. (Laughter proceeded for a few moments as he remembered what the Klingon desired when arriving back onboard.)

The Captain requested that we all catch some much needed Ten Forward time. I am guessing that there will be promotions to hand out, those who have been field promoted will enjoy the luxury of a ceremony.

I can honestly say that I am proud of my entire crew. From top to bottom, everyone performed valiantly even without a proper ranking Captain. For me, this was a trying test...a very trying test. Without the crew who served under me, I would not be able to perform that function in that capacity. I am extremely grateful for them and I treat them all like family.

This log will be my last as Acting Commanding Officer since Torgh has returned. I am waiting word from Sickbay that he is fit for duty and able to resume Command of the Dauntless.

In that case and for my own posterity....this is Acting Captain Theodore Caldecott of the Federation starship Dauntless.

Stardate 21412.19

Captain’s log, Star Date 21412.19, Captain Torgh recording:

I don’t know why Star Fleet is so insistent upon these infernal logs. I avoided recording them until now, and kept ignoring the reminders from the computer. But now I am stuck here, in sickbay, awaiting the next phase of treatment, and I have nothing else to do.

So I will record a log.

Shortly after the attack on Earth we were deployed to Celes Two to engage in negotiations of some sort. I don’t even recall our exact orders at this point, which is fine because, at least from my perspective they became irrelevant a few days after receiving them. I would note, however, that Commander Caldecott got the ship to Celes Two and delivered what was left of the diplomatic party for the conference. That said, it wasn’t exactly as we may have planned...

The Dauntless was attacked while I was meeting with Ambassador Kiras, Argellian, in my Ready Room. Due to a leak aboard ship and an elaborate espionage campaign by Argellian separatists, they had our shield frequency and timed an attack with a puny B’rel class ship that disabled the mighty Dauntless!

They took out shields, warp drive, and destroyed the shuttle bay and auxiliary craft, save the yacht. And they beamed the Ambassador and Ito their ship and warped away under cloak! Cowards!

The Ambassador quickly proved to be a liability. He begged and pleaded with them, and Itook him for a man who deserved neither life nor an honorable death. And then I realized what was going on. He was working WITH THEM!

He was a plant, by the rebels, to secure a prize with a lot of valuable Star Fleet and Klingon intel. ME!

By the time I had come to this conclusion he was long gone—they had told me they’d killed him but I suspect not. And I was not only captive, but subject to some of the most brutal torture I have ever imagined.

They secured me to a metal table, arms, legs, torso, and forehead. They then tilted the table up to an angle with a mirror so I could see what they were doing. And then, the petaQ of an ‘interviewer’ began taking me apart, piece by piece. He was qarDaSngan and likely did not understand Klingon resistance very well, for I laughed as he removed a finger, and then smashed my foot. And turned me and had me whipped 37 times. He then took a small metal scalpel and sliced lines in my face and my torso, broke ribs, penetrated my lung and collapsed part of it. Pulled teeth with pliers. Removed three fingernails, and sliced off part of my ear. Used a small laser to explode my eyeball while it was still in the socket.

I know I screamed. I know it hurt. But I managed to be strong enough to not tell them ANYTHING.

Until they resorted to drugs.

Drugs and electricity.

The drugs were sweet at first, making me happy and content, and very cooperative. But they had to keep increasing the dosages. It held back the pain some, but it also made me groggy and losing track of time.

And then the electricity, applied to areas recently sliced; to my genitalia. Inserted into body openings that should never have anything inserted into them.

I must, reluctantly admit, to telling a lot of things. Itold them of my time on Enterprise, of my mission to Celes on Dauntless. I even told them about the Gettysburg and some of the special modifications it once had. I told them secrets from the Klingon Defense Forces that I knew—most of which are now a decade out of date.

But I did not tell them of Apparition. And that will be my secret weapon to get them back.

You see, one of them took pity. A Klingon hates pity, but to help me escape I accepted it. He was a wiry and diminutive little anDorangan with one antenna missing. He was working with them—they seemed to be a multi raced group. They were not part of the Argellian rebellion, at least not directly. They were clearly led by an Orion female. I never got her name, but I did get the name of her first mate, the torture master himself.

Elin Tora, qarDasngan, likely member of the Obsidian Order, or at least previously. And he shall become my prey.

So, back to my escape...

The anDorangan, her name was Thrathaa ch'Vrini. Thrathaa had been a prisoner who had turned and was now working with them. Mostly because she did not want death. She was also the plaything of the males, not totally willingly. She was the one who cleaned me up between ‘sessions’, applied minimal medical treatment so I’d survive to the next session, and who ultimately broke me free.

We were at a secret base, the location of which I still do not know exactly, but I know it was on the other side of the

border. I suspect it was near Veldath, just based on my journey from there to Celes. But it could have been any of a halfdozen systems.

There was a power failure—they seemed fairly common. According to Thrathaa they were caused by some sort of solar interference. Anyway, during this one power failure I was being cleaned up by Thrathaa. I was barely conscious, and was unbound for the treatment. When the lights went out, she whispered to me. She told me to hold her hand and go with her.

I could barely walk, but she led me through the darkness—must have been able to sense the surroundings via her anDorangan antenna perhaps—and helped me into what felt like a coffin. A few minutes later she had me into it, and lights were coming on. In my foggy vision I recognized what looked like her setting a course. She told me she wished me luck, and if I survived to find her and rescue her. And then she kissed my cheek—and hit a button and the lid closed and I was launched.

There was no pursuit—I must have been long gone by the time power came back on. I was in and out of consciousness, for what felt like days, but was probably only a day or two.

And then I was in a bright room surrounded by Dauntless crew. I was alive, rescued.

And now I will get better, just better enough to go after my captors. I shall have revenge.

I had always wanted to say that. Only one day I hope to start it with captain. After reporting to the bridge for an assignment I had infringed on protocol by bringing my side arm and Duke with me onto the bridge. It seemed to go down well enough with the captain even though all other officers present had taken issue with it.

Regardless my first assignment was to Lieutenant Ziegler the acting CSO. He assigned me to herd refugees that had been beaming from the surface to temporary accommodation aboard the dauntless. During the assignment a child a Ullian child with exceptionally powerful telepathic abilities went astray. It had been my intent to use internal sensors to track the child's unique life signs, however due to his powerful telepathic ability he had caused massive interference with most of the ships systems.

During the search an Ensign Maclendon had been assigned to track the child. After tracking the child to deck ten I rendezvoused with him and his team. The ensign seemed unable to control the situation and Lt Ziegler relieved him and assigned command of the team to me.

After a search of the deck and assistance from medical personnel we located the child in unoccupied quarters. After trying unsuccessfully to reason with the child (he used a telekinetic strike to slam me against the wall. No injuries apart from some bruising.) we asked the child's mother to calm him. This was successful and we extricated them both afterwards.

On a personal note, Ifeel that ensign maclendons issues with the higher ranking officers instructions and inability to control the situation jeopardised the safety of his fire team and the officers and crew present on the deck. With that said after being relieved he did seem to do a thorough job tending wounded personnel and assisting medical personnel on site.

After securing the child and the mother I returned along with my fire team and Duke to escort the remaining refugees to their accommodations. I also noted that the presence of a Ullian child this close to the border could represent a major tactical problem if the tal shiar got their hands on him. Lt.Ziegler informed me that the child and his mother would be safe in federation custody.

The experience accrued will be invaluable to both my canine colleague and I.

Personal log, Midshipman Hannah Eaglestone reporting. I have finally transferred to the Dauntless. Although I have yet to unpack most of my things it is nice to finally have a place to call home. Because my posting is a long term placement I get my own quarters which is a bonus. I don’t think I could cope with having to share with three others.

One other person would be fine although it’s nice to have my own space.

(There was a brief pause as Hannah did something in the background.)

My authorisation codes have been programmed into the ships computer so now I can do engineering stuff by myself without having to have someone authorise it first, it’s so awesome.

The end of mission party was fun although ended with me having to escort Lieutenant Starnault to his room with Lieutenant Eyles my department head, He had quite a bit to drink and was a little sick. But at least I got to meet a lot of the crew before it happened. So far everyone has told me to be a bit more relaxed with my approach to senior officers.

The other Midshipman aboard think I am ‘sucking up’ to the senior team but it’s not my fault! It’s how I was raised!

I have to remember to thank my Dad for that I suppose. But he will just say they are just jealous because I’m so professional blady blady bla.”

(Hannah sighed.)

I got into an ‘almost’ drinking competition with Commander Caldecott and Lieutenant Commander Wright the day, well, morning after the party. I’m not one for ‘hair of the dog’ but it was a lot of fun, even if I did feel sick the rest of the day.

I suppose what I want to say is I have met my crew and they all seem pretty awesome. I still have to see the Chief Medical Officer regarding my past medical history, also my current problems with my OCD and stuff but I’m sure that will go fine, she seemed pretty cool and relaxed. Although in a professional setting that might be a bit different. In fact that’s my next port of call before reporting for duty in engineering.

Um, I don’t know what else to say to be honest. I have no idea where we are going or what we are doing but I am sure when the ship finally leaves dock we will be informed about what is going to happen.

Midshipman Hannah Eaglestone recording.

Well it’s been a long day, well two days if you really think about it. I am exhausted. I havn’t really had the chance to catch up on all the goings on with all the work I have had to do but apparently we were attacked by a Klingon bird of prey. Aside from that I know we suffered some pretty severe damage as well as some kind of bomb detonations on board. Although I’m not sure of the ins and outs of all of it.” Hannah sighed as she took off her tunic and grey shirt leaving her white vest on.

So much has gone on and Ifeel like I have been thrown in the deep end. There are far more senior Officers on board than me, people with more experience and yet I seem to end up with important duties at the moment, I don’t know the motives behind it but Itell you what I kind of like it.

(Hannah took a sip from her hot coffee that was set off camera, it was gratifying and she smiled as she tasted the beverage.)

So far during my shift I have monitored the warp core, repaired a nacelle and plasma conduit and rebuilt a warp coil from scratch in record time, although it did hit our energy reserves a little building all of the constituent parts for it.

My next assignement is not sleep, unfortunately and not rest, but to head for the bridge to take over from the engineer who had been maning the engineering console during the whole fiasco. Although on a lighter note I am rostered a day off tomorrow so I am seriously hoping that Eyles let’s me work my rostered shift so I can have some serious me time. Ifeel as though I havn’t sat down since leaving Starbase Bravo.”

Ensign Hannah Eaglestone recording.

Well the mission, for now, is over. We are on shore leave, although there isn’t much leave about it to be honest. I have been working nonstop since I was ordered to rest. But until everything is ship shape I can’t rest, my OCD won’t let me.

It is extremely irritating to know that whilst I am trying to get to sleep there is something to be fixed somewhere. It makes me anxious and stops me sleeping anyways. So to get a good nights rest I have to get these things done or they will just forever play on my mind.

A bonus to that I suppose is as I have to occasionally wait for materials to perform my repairs I get a chance to catch up on my paperwork so I am pretty much up to date with all of that now so I won’t have some Starfleet administrator

bugging Eyles for it every chance they can request status updates. Ijust wonder if Eyles and everyone else are as caught up as me.

On a happier note I spoke to my dad after my dinner earlier on today. He was relieved to see I was OK but saddened to hear of the losses the Dauntless had sustained during the mission. He told me he couldn’t wait to see me when I came back to Earth and that he had a surprise for me. I can’t imagine what it is but he seemed pretty happy with himself about it.

I have been invited to ten forward for a party tonight, lord knows I don’t really want to go. In order to avoid it I have scheduled myself to work with the tender crews for the rest of the evening, I’m sure I can get away with that.

Repairs are... progressing. This is about the only time Ithink I've ever wished for a full work over by the spannermonkeys at Bravo, with all their shiny industrial replicators the size of Ten Forward. We have the smaller hull breaches patched and reintegrated with the structural integrity field, the saucer shield generator is undergoing power hookup and projection testing... still working out what to do about the shuttlebay.

Best plan so far is to armour the internal spaces around the bay and get those attached to the external SIfield.

All that has ground to a halt while we repair the warp coils in the port nacelle. Of all the times to suffer damage to a pylon, 'at warp' is the worst. We're lucky we're not just a streak of gamma radiation across the sky at the moment.

I think I've overdosed on coffee trying to stay on top of everything. Oh, and PO Lerea was killed in Sickbay just before it went into lockdown. I... haven't processed that yet. I can't think about it until everything else is sorted. But I very much want to know what happened.

More later.

Well, we made it to Celes II. The new warp coil didn't blow us out of superluminal and turn us into an expanding smear of radiation, so that's pretty nice. The Corps' sending us a repair tender; they're going to properly fix the hull and shuttlebay, and they're even going to leave us some shiny new shuttles to replace the ones we lost. They'll need names, Iimagine. A waste of good champagne, but traditions stand.

Lerea has yet to be replaced. It'll be tough finding a shield tech of her calibre. Rebeelin is taking up the slack, but he was never up to Lerea's speed and now he's trying to hold down two jobs.

I promoted well, fieldbreveted, the confirmation hasn't technically come through yet Hannah Eaglestone mid mission. Might be able to sneak her under the radar and get her to LooeyJunior by the time we get back to Bravo.

Goodness knows she earned it.

I should be feeling as if I can relax I heard there's a party happening today in Ten Forward but there's still so much to do.

We haven't even started the conference yet. Saint Mac.

Lt Lancepaul Starnault

Stardate 21409.15

Chief Science officer log

Lieutenant Lancepaul, Starnault reporting.

Well I made it back to the Dauntless, while 'she' was still at Yadalla Prime. Little did I realize that would be just before shore leave. During my leave I had gone back to Earth to terrible news. My half brother Travis and I had been reunited, shortly before this leave. Ithink it was my second or third mission with the Dauntless, shortly after I was assigned here, fresh out of the academy. It was great to see him then, as I had been looking for him for a long time. I think it was just after they moved and I was placed in Alaska state custody. We had a great time catching, and seeing each other.

This leave would turn out quite the opposite. This time he would be burying the man, not visiting. For once I was caught offguard. I honestly wasn't sure what to do. However, when I got the message, from his wife, I went and took leave. I went to the funeral, and honestly it was hard but after a little while it started becoming a little easier for me. I did have to see my old step mom. It was intense but I got through it.

Now, it had become time to come back. Little did I realize I would time it just right, to come back just before shore leave. Ifound out that while I was gone, the academy thought it nice that the Dauntless science department could use another science officer. His name is Midshipman Martin Fields.

He is an older gentleman, at least compared to me that is. From what I've heard he seems like a good person, and great officer. Apparently while I was on leave, Fields and a Doctor, helped create a cure for an unknown disease, affecting only Romulan's. He reminds me of my father, at least what little i knew of him that is. I hope to get to know him better as an officer, as well as friend.

Anyway, shore leave is over. Now it's time to suit up again. Apparently while I was gone Captain Lornak made the choice to go play diplomat with the Acamarians, his people, as he was half Acamarian, and half Human.

We now have a new CO. Captain Torgh. He is a Klingon, and seems to like his drink much. I'm not surprised one bit, to be honest. He actually seems alright, the only thing, I will say, is that his wanting me to 'research' biological weapons that can be controlled to only attack Copper Blood based lifeforms? Honestly I can't say I'm happy with this task, but orders are orders and I will follow them.

It seemed that for our next mission, the Dauntless was going to play 'Taxi' for an Ambassador. From Celus two Ithink.

As far as I know our job is to keep him and his assistant safe in order for negotiations to take place. Apparently from what the ambassador said, once there it should only take two or three days for negotiations, however it is right on the border of Klingon territory.

Although, with this new found information about there being an attack on the Earth city of Paris. I really wonder what

the hell is happening within our own Federation. This does however seem like something the Klingon's might have tried, but why Paris.

That is all I really know for now. Our ship has been placed on yellow alert. All of the department heads and I are to get our departments ready. I will then head to the Bridge to take my station. That is all for now.

Lieutenant Lancepaul, Starnault reporting.

Well, well, well where do I begin!

First off this log is being sent from a turbo lift on my way back to the bridge, now that sickbay is no longer closed off.

At the end of my previous log we were bound for Celes IIto bring an Ambassador and his assistant to a negotiation, for Star fleet's continued use of Dilithium. Of course no mission ever goes according to plan. (An audible sigh can be heard)

First it began with an unexpected attack by a Klingon Bird of Prey, only hours after having finished days of Captain Torgh's gruesome training drills. At first I honestly thought it was simply another drill until we realized that Captain Torgh and Ambassador Karis had both been kidnapped. That's when we realized this was no longer a 'game' but for real!

Apparently while the Dauntless was being disabled both Captain Torgh and Ambassador Karis were being beamed onto the attacking ship, whilst the attacking BoP transported aboard a bomb into the shuttle bay.

While the ship was being disabled I was thrown from my station and broke my arm in three different spots! I made it down to sickbay shortly after. HOwever, just after being fixed up and about to leave sickbay, I witnessed a murder/suicide.

And it happened so fast there was nothing anyone could have done to stop it even if they had wanted too.

Just then we realized in sickbay that there was a Rigellian Hydroflu going around. Before I knew what was going on my three science officers and I became trapped in sickbay as Dr. Fritz locked down sickbay in full isolation.

After a lot of stressful talking and thinking, we got sh*t under control, and I began to help Dr. Sullivan in the medical labs.

Just then I got a comm that I was needed on the bridge. Honestly the call couldn't have come in at a better time.

Sickbay was just released from its isolation.

On my way to the Bridge will report more later. For now, End log.

Lieutenant Lancepaul, Starnault reporting.

After leaving sickbay and reporting to the bridge, things heated up fast. First we got a hidden message, which appeared to be from Captain Torgh. We did all we could to try to pin point it's exact point of origin but to no avail.

After a period of intense scanning and research, something completely unexpected happened. We spotted a probe. It's composure was that of a mix mash of different components. The probe appeared almost to have been Orion made.

After making sure it was a nonhostile probe, I discovered with the help of some other bridge officers, that there appeared to be a small amount of atmosphere and one lifeform aboard the probe. The commanding officers then sent a team of security personnel to the transporter room as we prepared to beam the probe aboard.

Come to find out, the lifeform aboard the probe was actually that of our kidnapped Captain Torgh! We were all relived to have our captain back aboard. Shortly after his arrival and our arrival to Celes II, the crew and I were placed

on shore leave, and then informed of a party to take place on board the Dauntless to give out promotions and celebrate our completion of the first part of our mission, while the shuttle bay, and any other parts of the ship that needed it, under went repairs.

Midshipman Martin Fields recording,

Well, this may not be the most professional decision I've made onboard, but I've chosen to take a brief break from working on curing the Rigellian Hyrdoflu to record the events of this mission so far. I have little time before I must return to my work, so I will attempt against 4 decades of precedence to be brief.

First, things started with an attack on Paris, and the apparent death of the President of the United Federation of Planets. Come to think of it, not much has been said about the attack since the initial report. That's rather concerning, but it was in fact an isolated incident.

Then, for whatever reason, I was tasked to acquire copperbased blood samples with a matching genetic profile. After Starnault left for the bridge, I briefed the rest of the Science personnel, and left for Sickbay with Alice Morrow and

Thomas Wahl in tow. We were taken by surprise when the ship suddenly lurched, which Ilater learned was an attack by a Klingon warbird. We were tossed about the corridor, but were mostly unharmed. I was uninjured, luckily, but Morrow and Wahl were less fortunate, with a broken wrist and ankle respectively.

After Alice and I carried Tom to Sickbay, we were patched up, by one of the new officers on the ship, Dr. Sullivan.

Lieutenant Starnault was also in Sickbay, with a broken arm. We were all patched up, and nearly headed back to the labs with some samples, until a murdersuicide took place right in the middle of the room. Right in Sickbay, on a

Starfleet ship. Then, to make matters even worse, we discovered a rare virus called Rigellian Hydroflu, had found it's way onboard, and Dr. Fritz, the new Chief Medical Officer, put Sickbay on lockdown.

I was then sent down to isolation, with Dr. Sullivan, while Fritz and Starnault stayed in the main bay, to work on creating a profile and possibly a cure for the disease. A brief powerstruggle ensued, and eventually, after losing my temper with Lance and Fritz, I was sent back to Fritz's office, to aid her and another young doctor, by the name of

Norgin, while Lance stayed with Sullivan.

Another game of musical chairs ensued, and now, Lance and Fritz are on the bridge with the rest of the senior staff,

Norgin is now in isolation, tending to the patients there, and Sullivan and I are in the office, with a profile of the disease, and the first steps toward a cure. There has been a little less professionalism than I would like, quite a bit of it on my part, but at the end of the day, we've been doing good work here.

And now, I must keep doing that work, as those people in isolation have little time. I only hope we can save them.

Sigh not much new to report, though it has been a while. I have been busy as the Acting First Officer while our appointed Captain, Torgh, has been missing. He was kidnapped along with a diplomat, and we have been wracking our brains nonstop to figure out where they are. We have some leads, and may split up, Theo taking the yacht with the remaining diplomat to a conference, while Itake the Dauntless in search of the missing...

I'm not sure how Ifeel about this. Itrust the crew would serve me without question, and could get the job done, but...

That's a lot of responsibility and burden. I worry that we have gone so long now without concrete information, and though we're getting close, I wonder sometimes if we can really do it. However, if I am ordered to carry out this task, then I will commit myself 100% to that and nothing else. I refuse to let my leadership and crew down.

We'll see what happens. For now, time for a quick nap, and maybe some food. Cheese fries sound good...

I've just returned to my quarters now that we have established orbit over Celes IIand been dismissed. Gamma shift has taken over for now, and a skeleton rotation would ensure at this point while repairs are rendered to the Dauntless.

Torgh is safely aboard and recovering, and it looks like the action has come to a stop for now.

Medical, Tactical, Ethical, and Diplomatic issues have plagued us these last weeks, but the crew has endured and suceeded thus far. The negotations on the surface have yet to take place, and who knows what fun that will bring. A bioengineered virus wreaked havoc down in medical, our ship was attacked and our Captain abducted in a twisted plot, and command struggles ensured, all while we tried to make it to this blasted planet for some rubbish diplomatic mind****. Good thing this is a personal log...

Anyway, I need a break. Time for some R & R. For everyone too many relationships have been strained, both personal and professional, and this will be a good time for everyone to gather up their thoughts. Caldecott did a fantastic job stepping in the big shoes and taking charge. He held us all together, and was our glue, though at times I worried for his own wellbeing. He pushed himself too hard at times, and put an ideal image of what a Commanding Officer does ahead of a realistic one by pushing himself too hard, he put unnecessary strain on all of us, though ultimately we did stick together and made it through this journey in mostly one piece. That's the definition of a good crew. Sticking together, no matter what.

Chief Medical Officer's Log

Lieutenant (JG) Samantha Rae Fritz recording.

We lost a lot of good people. People that didn't need to die. Someone brought on board a weapon, but it did not have multiphasic capability. What we thought was an illness was a geneticallyengineered weapon. The best we could do...the best... we could do... was treat the symptoms... and quarantine the victims. Someone brought this on board with a purpose. If this were exposed to an entire planet's population...

I fear we were just the test subjects. There may be a cure hiding somewhere, but even if we were able to find it,patients came to us with a timeclock on their heads.

Enclosed are my detailed medical reports, along with our ship's research... and the death notices of so many officers and civilians that did not need to die......we also need to requisition more body bags...
