Personal History

Darok was born as the son of a Klingon ambassador who moved the family to various postings around the Alpha Quadrant during his childhood, many of which were in Federation territory. Consequently, he was largely brought up away from the Klingon homeworld albeit with many Klingons around him and schooled in the Klingon traditions.

Darok became rebellious in his teens as he felt some conflict between the traditions of his upbringing and those of the Federation species that he and his family had lived amongst for so long. He disobeyed his parents' wishes for him to join the Klingon navy, and consequently he was shunned by his family.

Not welcome on the Klingon homeworld, which in any case was somewhat alien to Darok, he joined Star Fleet during the First General War as a crewman recruit in Security. He gradually rose through the NCO ranks due to his dedication to duty, quick wits and leadership qualities.

As NCOIC in Copernicus Security, Darok is the COS' right hand and responsible for the Enlisted ranks. He has served in Star Fleet longer than any Commissioned Officer in the Department. So, while technically out-ranked even by an Ensign, most officers treat him as an equal out of respect for his experience. He normally operates under direct authority of the COS.
