Personal History
Born on Cardassian Prime some time before the first General War in a small village, his father Glinn Kaddon Dal was in the Cardassian Military, and was becoming more dissatisfied with military rule.
Most of Rad’s early years were spent with his mother Katell. She was distantly related to the famous Damar, once ruler of Cardassia. At his mothers side Rad excelled in the sciences, beyond his years. His mother taught him to respect all life, unusual for a Cardassian, but he still exhibited the normal Cardassian arrogance. He was to join the Cardassian military but before his entrance, his father told him the secret of his true family history, which was one of proud and loyal service in the Cardassian military, and a loathing for military rule in Cardassia. Rad’s great grandfather, Joret Dal, had a brave and secret liaison with the Federation, to help save Cardassia from destruction under the military dictatorship of Joret’s time. Rad was sworn to absolute secrecy. This information nearly crushed Rad and he refused to join the military.
When the General War broke out his father was always away on missions. Rad inadvertently told a close fried of the family’s secret and for this his mother and he were incarcerated for fear that history might repeat it self. His father was reduced in rank and manipulated into submission for fear of his family well being. Rad began to hate what Cardassia had become and saw the sense in what his great grandfather had tried to achieve.
An opportunity came for Kaddor, to gain the release of his family from internment, and once they where released, he made successful plans for he and his wife and child Rad, to gain asylum within the United Federation of Planets. During their escape, the family was separated. Rad has never seen his mother or father since.
Rad was fostered with another Cardassian family on Earth where he continued his education. He joined Star Feet, wanting to see his beloved Cardassia free, and after initial suspicion was accepted. He trained in the Medical and Science fields.
Rad served with honor at several Federation posts and eventually was recruited by Star Fleet Intelligence.
