Personal History

Ryan Cooper was born on Starbase Alpha where his father severed as a security officer. When Ryan was ten years old his father took a job in Star Fleet Security on Earth and the family moved to San Francisco.

Ryan’s adolescence was a rather normal one. He attended school, received good grades, and managed to stay out of serious trouble. When Ryan graduated from high school he joined Star Fleet Academy, with the intent of following in his fathers’ footsteps.

Ryan graduated the Academy and was assigned to the vessel the USS Raiden, a Zeus Class Light Cruiser. He then served onboard the vessel for numerous years and he eventually reached the rank of Lieutenant and was promoted to the Chief of Security of the Raiden.

Coop, as he was commonly called, served on the vessel as the Chief of Security until receiving urgent news from his mother back on Earth. Coop learned that his father had died of a heart attack and that the funeral was being pushed back in case Ryan could make it home.

Due to some string pulled by his Commanding Officer, Coop was returned to Earth in time for his fathers’ funeral. Afterwards Ryan could not help but notice the pain and difficulty his mother was going through. Ryan requested a transfer to Earth to be close to his grieving mother.

Coop’s requested was granted, once again mostly thanks to the work of his commanding officers from his ship. Coop was reassigned to Starbase Alpha where he worked as a senior security officer on the Starbase.

  • The following information is only available to those with a security clearance of level five*

While working on Starbase Alpha Cooper was recruited to work for Star Fleet Intelligence. Cooper’s intelligence work mostly consisted of logistical support though he was occasionally used for missions throughout sector 001. He was eventually given command of a small team that assisted Star Fleet Security in its high priority operations.

While serving on Starbase Alpha Cooper was given command of a security investigation team that was based out of San Francisco and worked throughout sector 001.

When the war with the Romulan Star Empire erupted Ryan and his team were used in a variety of functions. He continued to be stationed out of Sector 001, however the war kept him traveling for each mission. Whenever he was on Earth for an extended period of time Ryan was often assigned to protection detail for high priority Federation Officials.

While off Earth Ryan's mission varied greatly. Most frequently he was involved in planet-wide battles fighting along-side and acting as a liaison between Star Fleet Security and the Marine Corp. Other missions consisted of such things as: Transportation of high valued prisoners, training of security teams on Starbases/outposts near the neutral zone, as well as various assignments via the intelligence agency that are classified.

At the end of the war Ryan returned to Earth, however, was given a new assignment within a few weeks. Ryan was tasked with flying to Space Station Sierra 18, and help develop and implement procedures to secure the high priority station from future take over as well as address the bases new-found presence of Klingons. Ryan arrived to Space Station Sierra 18, however did not have the opportunity to work on the project as planned.

Instead of meeting with Commander Alexis Tregelen on how to secure the station, Ryan met with Captain Alexis Tregelen who had just been promoted and given command of the USS Titan, a Zeus Classed Light Cruiser. Tregelen offered Ryan the position of First Officer onboard the vessel, which Ryan accepted with pride.

Ryan served in this position for quite some time. However, during one mission Ryan was captured by a group of Romulans. The Romulans, who were holdouts from the end of the war, tortured Cooper for information. Cooper had of course been trained to resist torture methods. This however just meant that the Romulans became barbaric in their methods. Ryan suffered severe burns to over 80 percent of his body. In addition, several of his fingers had been cut off, multiple bones broken- including his left leg and pelvis which had been completely shattered- and the left side of his face had been severely injured including his left eye which had been totally ripped out. The final method was a posison introduced to Cooper's body which very nearly killed the First Officer.

Ryan was stabilized, as best as possible, on the USS Titan but had to be quickly sent to the Sol System for treatment and rehabilitation. It took over a year for Cooper to recover enough to return to duty. Ryan first worked out of Starbase Alpha and the rest of the Sol System as a security officer. Eventually Ryan passed word up along the chain of command that he was ready and prepared to take on a full time position. Ryan was then assigned as the Chief of Security on Star Base Delta near the Romulan, Klingon, and Democratic Romulan borders.

Chief of Security, Star Base Delta

Cooper helped to establish numerous improvements to the Star Base located in such a pivotal location of the Federation. This included ensuring that local establishments were able to operate in a crime free environment, providing a safe and stable living community for long term Federation Officers and civilians who called Delta their home, and most importantly ensuring that the Star Base remained ahead of any external threat from nearby powers.

Cooper, who had served in a multitude of security roles during his Star Fleet career found his job on Delta the most unusual. Despite having served as Chief of Security of a vessel before serving as Chief of Security on a Star Base was much different. The number of personnel under his command was larger than most Starship Captain had on their entire vessel. Additionally, his role as Security Chief was more in-line with a civilian Chief of Police. Vary rarely was Cooper personally involved with a case on the station.

Cooper realized this was excellent training and experience but also missed being more personally involved with the events on the station.

Ryan continued to serve in this roll for a year before being given command of the USS Pegasus a Light Cruiser assigned to the Fourth Fleet. Ryan of course accepted the position gladly and was ready to once again serve on a Star Fleet vessel.

Commanding Officer, USS Pegasus

Ryan was assigned to the USS Pegasus as her Commanding Officer and was informed he had roughly twenty-four hours to prepare for her launch. At once Cooper packed as much of his personnel belongings as possible and boarded the Light Cruiser to familiarize himself with her layout and crew as much as possible before departing Star Base Delta.
