Chin'toka Mission 05: "Paranoia"

From Federation Space - Official Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

After their encounter with the comet that turned out to be a Deltan ship, the crew of the Chin’toka was en route to Tellar, to meet with the Fleet in response to the Krynar’s appearance in the Sol System. Now they were on a timetable, and the duogravitic weapon they had tested earlier was needed in the upcoming encounter. En route, the crew learned of the destruction of Earth and Luna, which was later wiped from their memories due to the Copernicus and Intrepid going back in time to reverse the destruction.

As they arrived at their destination, there was a strange occurrence: Captain Gagarin was replaced on board by Captain Yvette, who had previously been removed from duty following the incident at Mericor. This was due to the time effects caused by the Copernicus and Intrepid. The situation escalated when Lieutenant Commander Fiore drew her weapon on the Captain, and refused to stand down to anyone’s authority.

In the resulting chaos, Fiore was arrested and relieved of duty. Upon communication with Command, Yvette was temporarily relieved of command, and Commander Codey was instated as Acting Commanding Officer. The Chin’toka was then able to continue on with their role in the battle with the Krynar. Upon resolution of the mission, Starfleet Intelligence took over, relieving many Senior Officers, including Codey, Erigneis and Roland of duty, until such time as a full investigation could be launched.

Captain's Log, Stardate 21309.14. This is Acting Captain Valentina Gagarin -

Well, this certainly promises to be an interesting mission! We were sent over one hundred light years to check out a comet-like object that was moving at warp 5. We journeyed quite close to the galactic rim in order to investigate. The journey was endlessly boring, but I think it is going to be worth it!

When we arrived, we discovered that the comet had its own warp field and that it had a mass of duranium within the rock and ice. This immediately prompted speculations that it was actually a ship, though some crew members suggested it was a disguised living creature. There was some paranoid concern about the comet attacking us, but though we remained on alert and at a distance, I didn't perceive any threat so we kept our defenses down. I think that ended up being a good thing!

From her listening-post in Sickbay, Doctor Rubi suggested that we hail the comet in case it was a ship. I had already been thinking of doing that after we got some more information, but we went ahead with it after only a few scans. To the surprise of us all, the comet immediately dropped out of warp and our hail was answered! The man who answered appeared to be a generic human-like humanoid who introduced himself as Elon. I mentioned that we were curious about their presence in Federation Space, and he offered to have us over on his comet-ship. I have accepted, and now we just need to put a team together and we can be on our way!

Stardate 21310.07

Captain's Log Stardate 21310.07. Acting Captain Valya Gagarin here!

So hailing the comet-ship worked! We were answered by a man who called himself Elon. He looks like a standard human, but we all know how many species look like that! I'm not sure what species he is. In any case, the comet-ship dropped out of warp when Elon hailed us and we stopped along-side it. I asked Elon if we could discuss what he and his people are doing in Federation Space, and he promptly invited us on board. I obviously accepted his invitation; I'm not going to turn down a First Contact opportunity!

I gathered up an away team consisting of Fiore, Simmons, Donovan, Erigneis, Rubi, McMillan, and another Security Officer whose name escapes me. We went over on a shuttle and Crissy had to do some creative flying through tunnels to get to their docking port! Their port ended up being too small, though, so we're going to have to transport aboard.

We're a little worried about transporting over, though. Once we entered the tunnels, we lost contact with the Chin'toka. I'm not too worried about them in Brodie's hands and I hope he's not too worried about us! There are also odd energy readings in the comet, so we're not sure we can maintain a transporter lock. We're going to test that by sending McMillan and Fiore as an advanced team.

In addition to the energy readings, which seem to go up consistently, the number of lifeforms we can detect seems to decrease over time. The crew is pretty concerned about this, thinking that the energy levels and lifeforms correlate. It is a possibility, but until we know more I don't want to jump to conclusions. Elon hasn't done anything to make us suspicious.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Today, we're true explorers!

Captain's Log Stardate 21311.03. Acting Captain Valya Gagarin recording:

All of our most pertinent questions have been answered, and I think it is safe to say that we have had a successful First Contact mission.

We were able to transport from the Chin'toka shuttle to the comet-ship, where Elon greeted us along with some of his people. We were quickly brought to a very comfortable conference room that was more like a lounge, and our conversation began. We found out almost immediately that Elon's people are Deltans. Of course, this meant that we fairly quickly began to feel the effects of the famous Deltan pheromones, which were not repressed like they are for Star Fleet Deltans.

The pheromones resulted in a few embarrassing moments with Lieutenant Rubi and Commander Fiore. Apparently Edo's like Rubi are more susceptible to pheromones than humans. Cellest could hardly handle herself due to the sexual energy running through her. I was proud of our CMO and the rest of the away team, though, because of their quick thinking. Cellest immediately injected herself with something to counteract the pheromones, and she received a rebreather from McMillan. Elon was also gracious enough to clear the air for us with his ship's ventilation system. Of course, we still felt the effects of the pheromones for a prolonged period. It wasn't unpleasant, but I think most of us are going to need cold showers when we get back to Chin'toka. Those of us who aren't lucky enough to have a significant other, anyway.

Crissy was so caught up in the pheromones that she dug her nails into her hand and drew blood. Elon attempted to help but touch-healing her, but the resulting sexual effect was too much for our CTO. She had to leave the room, and Cellest went to help her. That left the rest of the away team and I to smooth things over, and we quickly began a Q and A session with Elon.

We found out that the comet-ship was heading back to Delta after a 3000 year journey. Of course, they had only left Delta about 250 years ago, but they got caught in some space-time anomaly that sent them into the past. That's way more common than it should be, but with the technology bumping around this galaxy causing problems, I guess its not very surprising.

We found out about the energy and life-sign flux, too. Apparently the Deltans are transitioning to energy beings! It's a very erotic transition, too, considering how happy Elon looked when one hundred of his shipmates transitioned during our interview. Elon seemed to think we Humans are sexually immature, but I'm glad we don't have to deal with that kind of distraction on a daily basis. I think it would make productivity very difficult.

Right as we were about to share more and find out more about our technologies, the comet-ship went back to warp and it was revealed to us that the Chin'toka had left the area. We haven't been able to contact them since entering the ship, so I have to assume that something bad is happening. I'm going to get us out and back to the Chin'toka as soon as I can.

Stardate 21312.05. Captain Valentina Gagarin recording –

Well there isn’t much more to tell about the Deltans so I’m going to leave that where it was in my last log. So much else has happened since then that it seems silly to think about now.

We were preparing to return from the comet-ship to the runabout when Commander Fiore beamed us back without permission. Though her continuous need to take over situations is annoying, she had good reason this time. We had received a message from Admiral Wueste that the Krynar had entered the Sol System in force. They were surrounding Earth.

Of course this hit many of us, if not all of us very hard, especially those of us who grew up on Earth. We haven’t had a direct threat to Earth since Starbase 1 was destroyed by the Borg. That was a frightening enough time while I was at the Academy, but at least I was on Earth, ready to defend her. Now we’re so far away there is almost nothing we can do.

We immediately contacted the Chin’toka, which had left the comet-ship to help a ship in distress. The Chin’toka successfully rescued the crew of the Horizontal Jig, and we met up several hours later on our way to Earth. It’s going to take us 19 days to get back home. By then who knows what will have happened.

So this is it, we're stood up ready to go again. This time we're not studying pulsars, or testing weapons, we're investigating a 'comet' that has displayed some 'non-comet' behaviour on the outer rim. Ten's of light years from the edge of the Klingon Empire, we should be ok, but some strange happenings have started already - and we are still docked at Delta!

During the pre-mission briefing, several of the senior staff came over somewhat peculiar, including myself. I can't exactly account for the what the others officer's may have experienced but it appears that Crissy saw The Borg, Mick saw rotting corpses, and Jordan risked being knocked out by drawing a phaser and looking at the observation windows like he had seen a ghost! Personally, I felt Borg probes go into my neck, just like they did on Mericor from three of... I mean, I mean, Mother.

It felt so real.

I don't think this startled Valya, who is only on her second mission with the Chin'toka and the crew, and this puzzles me. I don't think the Sheila is deliberately being aloof about the situation, but she's played this one quite open and isn't concerned as possibly I would be; mind you, she didn't see or feel what we felt so I am probably biased. I think she is good for the ship though - and with boundless enthusiasm, very different to Aloysia...

So we are to go chasing comets, and hopefully not ghosts - both have appeared early on, so I guess now its fifty-fifty.

First Officer's Personal Log Stardate 21309.30

After what seemed like a very long journey, we finally made our rendezvous with the comet that had gotten Starfleet into 'curiosity mode', and discovered it was a good thing it had. The comet, upon initial approach, began behaving something like a starship - it accelerated and changed course based on our movements, like it was a reaction. We crunched the data until the Captain drew the line in the sand and after we worked out that the exterior of the comet was blocking some scans, there was a definite trace of duranium inside.

The trajectory of the comet would have brought it from far beyond the outer rim, taken it too close to several Krynar occupied territories and onwards towards the Beta Quadrant - I think. We are unsure of its purpose, but engineering were able to analyse the warp field and it was created perfectly for the shape of the comet as it was; this raises the question as to whether they were advanced enough to alter their warp field to account for accumulation of ice and rock, or whether they have simply generated a massive field to envelop the comet in its entirety - both markers for an advanced star going race.

Eventually the decision was made to hail the comet, and a gentleman by the name of Elon spoke directly to the Captain. It wasn't very long before the weird started to happen again, and after discovering they were using a Federation frequency of some age, the lifesigns we were eventually able to detect started disappearing as the power or energy on the ship increased. This has led to theories that they may be using life force to generate power, or that our sensor scans are seriously having difficulty penetrating the outer crust.

Gagarin decided that an away team would be more beneficial for the mission - after the reference that our ship design was old - I think it works better that we went across to them rather than vice-versa. At the time of departure our ops station detected a distress signal - an automated ping - from civilian freighter some 3 light years away. The 'Horizontal Jig' was last recorded around Bajor and Star Base Charlie literally hours before the Krynar decimated them. There have been no reported sightings of the Jig since until now.

I am now left with the decision, and it will be mine alone, whether to abandon the Jig in favour of supporting our Away Team on the comet, or abandoning the away team in favour of making progress towards the Jig and discovering how she has ended up so far from Mortus Bajor, and how she has managed to do so without being recorded at any Federation or Klingon Empire port.

At present I am exploring options to leave the Away Team with either a probe or other craft in position to enable a relay from the C-T or a pre-recorded message for when the team emerge; unfortunately we cannot ask them direct as we have lost contact.

Time is inevitably ticking.

I decided to leave Captain Gagarin and the first contact away team with the ship's Ruanbout that has been secured and is awaiting their exit from the leviathan of a ship / comet and the company of the mysterious Elon. We have have made good speed pushing the Chin'toka to the SS Horizontal Jig - the engineering team and helmsmen that have brought us to the stricken freighter deserve to be commended by the Department Heads for working tirelessly around the clock.

Now we have arrived at the vessel I have asked Lieutenent Feyil to lead the Engineering and Medical away team; his explicit instructions are to stabilise the ship's drive systems that appear to have taken some form of punishment. Once stabilised we can see about interrogating their computer and piece together how and why they are here, out of the fringes of the Federation.

Upon sending the away team to the Horizontal Jig our sensor picked up a flotilla of Gorn Confederation ships moving their way through this part of the galaxy, destined for the Federation core. They are travelling at warp 9, which is unusual for the Gorn, but I have asked Lieutenant Adune to establish their business by interrogating Starfleet records and hope there hasn't been a major political shift in the quadrant.

I am still concerned that we have not heard any news from Captain Gagarin, but sensors indicate that the comet is exactly where we left it, with the Runabout stationed close by. Hopefully we can wrap up the business on the Horizontal Jig, and get back before they have outstayed their welcome.

CTO LCdr Cristina Fiore

Stardate 21311.22

CTO's log, Cristina Fiore recording.

This one will be quick. I have other things I need to be worrying about.

We were sent to investigate some comet that was apparently changing course. On intercept we found out that there was a ship constructed within the comet, and when a small away team went on board to meet with the crew it turned out this was an offshoot of the Deltan race. Touch telepaths, pheremones, the full 9 yards. Only we didn't realise this before we got there.

I... Well, there's no delicate way of putting this. I screwed up. I got too aggressive with the Deltans 3 or 4 times. I was just about managing to fight the pheremones until one of them touched me, and all I can remember is this carnal lust that just took me over. Not going to talk about that here but sufficed to say, I am never going on a diplomatic mission again. Somehow I don't see Starfleet arguing with me after this.

Of note is that these Deltans were in the process of transcending. They were changing into energy beings, and were desperate to get home so they could be there when these changes overtook them.

The mission was cut short because we now have a Krynar mothership over Earth and everyone was recalled. That's all I can think about now. I'm from Chicago, my entire family near enough is on Earth, my boyfriend's Terran... It's such a gut-punch to have our home threatened like this. And we're 18 days away. Feels like so much longer.

Anyway. This was about the Deltans. Don't know if we'll see them again and I don't know if this is something that the Federation Deltans need to worry about, but that's a conversation for another time.

That's right, everyone. After our last mission, we had a promotions and medals ceremony, and I was officially made the Chin'toka's Chief Engineer. It came as quite a shock, as I thought Commander Hunter would be retaking the post after recovery. But it seems that's not to be. The Commander will still be staying on board, just not coming back as the Chief Engineer. I don't know how that's going to work out, but I'm sure we'll still be able to work great together. The ship truly has a talented Engineering corps. That being said, there are a few things that worry me.

And not really worry, as give me an empty feeling. Case in point: one Lieutenant (JG) Savar Feyil. A truly hard-working and loyal engineer, he seemed a little downtrodden when I was appointed as the Chief Engineer. I know becoming a Department Head is one of those things that Officers look forward to, so I can understand what he may be going through. I don't think this will effect his work, but only time will tell.

Shore leave seems to be going pretty smoothly thus far. It's too bad Jason's out on a mission. He would have a helluva time here on Delta. Well, until next time...

Well, I really don't think shore leave lasted that long. Or, at least it didn't feel that way. We've recently been recalled back to the ship. I've spent some time in Engineering, doing some fine tuning, prepping for launch, working on assignments. I'm glad Commander Hunter has returned to duty. Even though he has elected not to be the Chief Engineer again, having him aboard is definitely a good thing, as I know I will rely on his experience and expertise in Engineering.

There's going to be a Senior Staff Meeting soon. To be honest, I'm a little nervous, as it is my first. I kind of wonder if this is how Jason felt his first time in one.

 • a small chuckle*

Probably. In fact, I'd put money that he felt even moreso, as I'm not the only 'new kid on the block' at this one, nor the only one not originally from this ship. Well, I better end this and finish up a few things before heading that way.

Found out our mission was to check on a comet that had diverted course drastically and moving at warp speeds. Have been working with Science on our trip to it to see if we could get anything major on it, to very little avail.

It's been an interesting time with the "comet" we were sent to check out. As it turns out, it's actually a ship, and we've established first contact with them. I had noted that their course was heading into heavy Krynar-controlled space. The only thing that I have a concern about these new beings is the fact that, since revealing themselves, the number of lifeforms on their vessel had begun to drastically decrease.

There is an Away Team being assembled, and I would very much like to join it. Seeing a new technology may bring about some ideas we can use in the future.

Time to get ready, even if I don't join the Away Team.

I was happy to be selected to be a part of the Away Team over to the 'comet-like' ship. I look forward to what is being indicated as a first contact mission. The trip on the shuttle was a little weird, as we got inside the comet, communications with the C-T ceased. And the area we were in was too small to land the shuttle in, so we had to transport over. We went over in groups of two, I went second with the Captain. Once we got over, we learned that the race was telepathic in nature.

We were also ordered to hold off on scans, which was understandable. Then we learned what the species was called, which translated into Deltan. A surprise to be sure. With that information, it seems to have adversely affected Lieutenant Rubi, and we're making sure she's okay.

Our last mission went a lot different than I would have expected for First Contact missions. As it turns out, the race we encountered are actually members of the Deltan race. Because of an event in Deltan history a long time ago, they are different from the Deltans that are members of the Federation. This had some unexpected side effects to Rubi, as she is Edo. The problem eventually worked itself out, and we were able to continue with First Contact.

It did not last long, however, as we were soon beamed back to the shuttle by our CTO. The reason became apparent as she played the message from Command informing everyone of the Krynar's presence in the Sol System. We are now en route to Earth for a possible defensive.

On the way, we're going to be working on the prototype Gravitic Weapon, and I've asked Ensign Erigneis to help, as he has proven to be invaluable.

I'm not sure on whether or not my brother's ship, the Ticonderoga, also received the message, though I'm sure they did. If so, there is a good chance I'll see or have contact with him when we arrive to Earth.

Well I have found that I am used to the idea of Simmons being Chief Engineer. I resented his appointment at first but I have mellowed out. It has motivated me to perhaps try for promotion.

I find that I am still having the dreams from Mericor. I don't know if I will ever get that place out of my head. Our current mission has turned interesting as we were investigating a comet, which turned out to be a ship. The Captain formed an away team and took a shuttle across. Once they had left the ship we received a distress call and the Chin'toka went to investigate. Concetrating on the current mission has allowed me to focus my mind and not remember Mericor.

I find that I am acting Chief Engineer as Lieutenant Simmons accompanied the Captain on the away team. We have pushed the Engines to the maximum to cut time off our journey. Myself and an away team went across to the Horizontal Jig and discovered that it was dead in space. The engines and computers were all offline, the ship had collided with a quantum filament. Unfortunately there were fatalities on the ship and we were unable to get the ship operational due to a priority recall.

[It’s been a busy couple of weeks, thus my reason for not posting this log sooner. I’ll get to that in a moment. The Chin’toka was initially ordered to track a comet that was traveling straight into the heart of Federation space, while at the same time making erratic course changes occasionally – suspicious to say the least.

Contact was made with a ship that had a comet, elemental crust on the exterior that was housing a ship full of Deltans from a different space-time on the interior.

A distress call came in from a civilian ship a few light years away and the Chin’toka was the closest able to respond. We left a runabout for the Captain and her away team and departed for the Jig.

During our investigation and attempt at stabilizing the Jig ship and crew, we discovered it would take a significant amount of time to repair. Commander Codey fell ill with something that looked like the virus that infected the Sheridan and I relieved him of command. He did fully recover with no danger to the crew.

We were notified of a Krynar position about 300,000 kilometers from Earth and ordered in a transmission from Admiral Wueste to make haste to sector 001. We quickly beamed aboard the surviving crew of the Jig,, and we’ve been in route ever since, making preparations. The Jig crew was delivered to their chosen destination in route, and a pickup arranged for their ship

We’ve since been ordered to the Tellar system to await further orders and engage the enemy there. We’ll be prepared.

Begin recording.

The "comet" we've been sent to investigate is, in fact, some sort of ship. Surrounded by a metallic shell, this ship propels itself through space with the use of multiple rather archaic warp engines. In addition, trajectory indicates that the ship hails from the galactic rim, and has been travelling at Warp 5, meaning that it has been travelling for quite a long time.

Once we hailed the ship, a being calling itself 'Elon,' seemingly humanoid, addressed us, though many of his comments seemed out of place, or rather, out of time. He refers to our ship as being similar to those recorded a thousand years ago, and refers to our speech as 'English,' which is also rather odd. Also of interest is his reference of being on duty 'this cycle,' and his difficulty in providing coordinates, which I speculate may have something to do with dealing with a fourth dimensional axis (most likely time).

On a personal level, I'm thrilled and rather scared of this ship. The idea that a ship has either been travelling through time or travelling for hundreds of years, disguised as a comet, is fascinating. Perhaps they will even know something about my people, though I dare not hope for that much.

Another fact of note: the life sign readings on the ship are decreasing rapidly. I would like to chalk this up to a sensor anomaly, since we have trouble penetrating the ship's hull, but I have an uneasy feeling.

In any case, the Captain has formed an away team, and asked that I join it. I am quite thrilled for this opportunity, as it will be my first real away mission with Star Fleet. I am filled with both anticipation and trepidation. After all, I'm travelling with a lot of senior officers, and we're dealing with what could be a predestination paradox. I hope this goes well.

Stardate 21311.16

Mitsein Erigneis' log, stardate 21311.16 (recorded on a runabout on route to meet the C-T):

This has been an interesting mission. What started at first as a potential temporal event, complete with anachronistic phrases and technology turned out to be a bit more of a First Contact, but with a species that has been in the Federation for a long while. Aboard a ship built into a comet, we encountered an offshoot of the Deltan race, somehow throw out of time and space. They had been travelling for a long while, and as of last contact were en route to their homeworld. What consequences their arrival might have are unknown and potentially catastrophic. This racial offshoot is currently centuries ahead of their on-world counterparts. In fact, they have begun to experience what they referred to as an "evolution." While we didn't get to witness this firsthand, and left with a lot of questions, this was certainly a trip for the books.

Now then, as to our early departure. It seems while we were inside the ship, the C-T was called away to another mission, leaving behind a runabout. As we were in contact with Elon, our liason with the Comet-Ship Deltans, the ship started to move, and our CTO transported back to our shuttle, intercepting an urgent message. Before we could properly finish our dialogue with the Deltans (and, indeed, before they were to give us unknown quantities of data on unknown species and sectors), we were all beamed aboard, greeted by a priority message stating that the Krynar were in the Sol system.

Currently, we are en route back to the C-T, presumably to make our way directly there. The good news is that we still have the experimental weapon we tested last mission, and I believe we should have it operational before we arrive near Earth. The bad news is that our trip will take quite a while. Even at high Warp, I fear that the battle may be won or lost before we arrive.

Pfff, umh. Yeah, it's been a, well it's been an eventful period. So much has happened that I appear to have lost track. Well, it's not that I've lost track, that's just a saying …

Well normally I'm a bit more jumpy … when writing a personal log but I've to admit, the past few days I've perhaps worked a bit to much. The silly part is, I want to, the reality is that at a certain point my body and mind will say:

“Eh! Enough is enough” … …

Okay, enough complaining.

Sickbay is fully operational. I've given it a personal touch, added a botanic section to the laboratory and made a few adjustments to make it all a bit more comfortable. Sickbay was to 'grey' in my opinion. I've been given permission to promote Isore to ensign, he deserves it.

Umh …

I think I'm leaving quite a few details out but. The medical relevant reports are noted in the medical log, so are the medicine inventories, instruments and equipments list. Calamity and injury reports etcetera. In my opinion, it's looking nice and functioning efficient.

I believe we're ready for anything.

Now! Time for sleep. Daystrom, end log.

Cellest Rubi, CMO's log. Stardate Two-one-three-one-zero-point-twenty-nine. (21310.29)

We've arrived on a comet, or rather, within a comet. There was something peculiar as to when we arrived. A typical and soothing scent could be smelled within the ship – the ship being the comet –, I've started to notice that the team was starting to show behavior that best could be described as discomfort, discomfort being an understatement. Also, this discomfort also manifested within me, it produced behavior unfitting for someone within my function in my opinion … it was: intense. For a moment, I wasn't able to guaranty the medical health of the away-team, in other words – I freaked out.

But, for the sake of this report I'll keep it formal.

We've met Elon and a few more members of his comet-ship. Apparently they're Deltans, but not the Deltans we've in the federation. They were separated from their home-world apparently, the hows and whys aren't really clear to me.

The smell we all noticed were pheromones being pumped through the vessel. When this became apparent I collapsed, and was unable to stabilize myself without the help of both a respirator and a shot of propranolol to calm down. When I regained my footing, I was able to induce a state of mind that helped me control the urges caused by the pheromones.

Also, apparently, the touch of these Deltans have healing properties, they are able to mend wounds. I noticed that after our CTO's hand got injured, and Elon touched it, healing it. It was as if a regenerator was used. Unfortunately it had quite the downside. Somehow the touch enlarged the sensual sensations one felt, and with enlarged I mean... really, really enlarge. This caused our CTO to retreat and … well, catch her breath.

I was ordered to aid her … …

And I did, in a … unconventional way. The CTO was able to calm down, as was I.

( Brief pause followed by a sigh )

When we're back aboard the Chin'toka, I will request a dialogue with Captain Gagarin as to discuss my place as the CMO. I do not believe I'm ready.

Cellest's Rubi's Chief Medical log, stardate two-one-three-one-one-point-twenty six (21311.26)

We've returned to the Chin'toka. Sickbay was neatly taken care of by T'pril. I've learned of their rescue mission, saving the surviving crew members of the Horizontal Jig, a traders vessel under the command of Second Officer Bary Sowel. Former individual in command was Captain Maxeen who was killed due the collision with the quantum filament phenomena.

The surviving crew members are to be transported out when the Chin'toka reaches the Gecki Colony, this location is on our route I've come to learn.

Earth, and therefor, the federation is currently under siege by the Krynar. The exact details are unclear to me. The Chin'toka has been ordered to assist in Earth's defense. We will reach it in approximately fifteen days.

I've issued a constant code red medical alert. Sickbay together with two cargo bays have been assigned to receive additional patients and casualties, raising the capacity to efficiently treat patients to one hundred people, this under no circumstance is the maximum of patients we are able to receive. I don't care if we have to expand into the corridors, though, should these numbers escalate further, we will have to make tough decisions as to who we are to treat first, and who not.

I will safeguard the continuity of the ship's and fleet's crew, or die trying.

Daystrom, end log.

Cellest's Rubi's Chief Medical log supplemental -

T'pril appears convinced that one hundred is a number hardly achievable, in her opinion, thirty-five would be a more realistic number.

We'll see … we'll see.

Sickbay is functioning within all required parameters as requested by CMO Lieutenant Cellest Rubi. The change of leadership within sickbay has been a curious one. Luitenant Rubi has very specific desires when it comes to the operation of sickbay. If one is curious, I advice one to visit sickbay.

It has come to my attention that Lieutenant Rubi believes that one must feel comfortable within sickbay, what strikes me as odd is that comfortability is extremely subjective, therefor I do not share her … enthusiasm.

Mood lights, art, plants, a programmed greeting and updated dialog protocol hailing from the ship's computer specifically designed for sickbay all have been implemented, here, I must add that this system is turning out helpful; as one enters, the computer itself attempts a shallow diagnoses, notifying the medical crew afterward.

Alas, an interesting turn of events.

Currently a shuttle has been sent to the comet. It is inhabited. At this point, not much is known. I therefor have little to report on the subject, I must report that there appears to be a relation between the disappearance of lifeforms aboard the comet, and an unknown energy field directly reacting to the lifeforms disappearing … curious indeed.

Compound B-342 has been discovered, it was extracted from thunbergia alata, it appears to be an alkaloid, the properties are interesting, we are at this point conducting more research on this substance. The molecule and all information are reported in medical document: MED:45652.1.

ACMO Lieutenant T'pril's medical log, Stardate 21311.05

No word from our CMO Lieutenant Junior Grade, Cellest Rubi. I trust in her wellbeing as she is with a capable and resourceful team. It however has come to my attention that the medical team appears to be agitated. When I confronted them with this observation, the reactions were diverse from irritation as to her not returning yet to a reaction that could be described as worry – interesting indeed.

I have received the ship's first officer, Lieutenant Commander Brodie Codey. It appears he has contracted an illness, we are currently working on assessing what disease this is and how to treat it. For safety measures, I have quarantined him until we are certain of his illness and short and long term effects. This illness interferes with his normal functioning, therefor command has been passed to Lieutenant Commander Rick Roland.

It appears the Krynar have mounted a full-scale assault on sector 001, earth.

Sickbay as been placed on a constant red alert protocol. I am satified as to the professional attitude adopted by the medical crew, or to quote Luitenant Cellest Rubi,

'We are ready for anything.'
