Personal History

Gareb’s birth was unique in that is half Andorian and half Aenar. Ahel and Jessal went to the underground Aenar city as cultural ambassadors. As such, it only made sense that they would develop close ties to members of the Aenar society. Grala and Henrir finished up the quartet, and Gareb came into the world some time later. However, his upbringing was stressful at times. Both sides of the family had their own ways for raising a child, and it didn’t always help the disputes when two of the parents would converse mentally to undermine the other two. Gareb turned out well, though.

Gareb’s Aenar parents tought him the intricacies of the telepathy, while his Andorian ones showed him how to dig and climb. He did particularly well in his scientific studies, so he was brought to the surface where he could get more exposure to technology. Being the new kid in school didn’t bother him. Being called “greenskin” did. Aenar children cannot see, so the color of his skin did not bother anyone. The Andorians proved to be different and unrelentless. Most would just stare, but there were still plenty who taunted him because they could.

The teasing only stopped when a group invited Gareb to go spelunking with them. He was sure they planned to leave him in a shaft, but he also wanted to fit in. They got pretty far into an abandoned shaft (of course they picked the abandoned one to explore) and part of the roof collapsed from geologic instability in the area. Gareb was on the exit side of the collapse and could have left them behind. After all, he had picked up plenty of stray thoughts that they planned to do the same to him. He chose to stay with them and pushed instructions telepathically through the ice on how to best clear the obstruction. Needless to say, the teasing stopped and Gareb felt no need to rub the incident in their faces.

Gareb submitted his application to Star Fleet Academy and was accepted into the Engineering program. He specialized in warp field physics. After graduating, he was assigned to the hospital ship USS Uriel. He was recently transferred to the USS James Munroe due to his specialty in warp cores.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Best Time: Gareb was exploring an ice cave with some friends on Andoria when part of the tunnel collapsed and separated the group. He was able to use his telepathy to coordinate the group’s efforts until they finally carved through the blockage. The others were no longer so quick to point out his differences.
Most Crucial Experience: Gareb’s acceptance into Star Fleet Academy
Role Model: Talla th’Zoarhi for sort of having paved the way for hybrids on Andoria
