Personal History

Ignatius was born along with his twin brother Rodrigo, in the capital city of Caracas to Judith and Ignatius Sr. Although he and his father's birth names are Ignatius they go by Xavier being named after two Jesuit Missionaries. Fathers Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier whom both were canonized 'Saints' in the Roman Catholic Church. The name has been passed down for 12 generations so the Senior didn't want to break the Cavalera family tradition. So he named the first born after himself, feeling bad for his other son, Rodrigo. Xavier Jr is the elder of the two by 3 minutes. The brothers were inseparable, always attached at the hip while growing up. There wasn't any competitiveness between the brothers whom have a bond like no other twins. Besides the fact that Xavier was named after their father, Rodrigo took little offense and did not let it bother him. Xavier was a natural athlete from an early age, achieving what most kids don't. He pitched a perfect game four times at the age of 7, 10, 11, and 14. Earning him a spot as a starter on the All Venezuelan National Junior Team. His brother made the team but, only as a platoon left fielder. Although, Xavier excelled at sports, he also did extremely well at academics. Rodrigo was the opposite performing better at school but, falling a little behind in athletics. Xavier, unlike his brother believed in Star Fleet's philosophy and always knew if he didn't make the pros at baseball, he would definitely join. His Twin did not share his elder twin's exuberance for Star Fleet but always respected his beliefs nonetheless. This feeling began in school being it was required curriculum in History class, learning about the missions and wars Star Fleet has been involved. He especially loved reading up on the legendary star ship, the USS Enterprise.

After participating in many baseball and soccer during his high school years, he figured his love for Star Fleet outweighed his love for sports and immediately applied to Star Fleet upon graduating High School. His twin Rodrigo being the great brother that he is, didn't want his Xavier to apply along and also forwarded his application. Rodrigo was accepted first, but declined to join. Xavier unfortunately did not get accepted the first time around which put him into a funk. He resorted to heavy drinking which took a great toll on his performance in baseball. He was released after a drunken accident which left a team mate seriously injured. He needed to strap down and veer his life back on track. With the help of his brother, he was successful in gaining acceptance under one condition from Star Fleet Academy instructors. No drinking while school is in session for the calendar year. Xavier gladly accepted the condition and moved onto San Francisco to attend the academy. Being a natural talker he decided to pursue a career in Star Fleet Security. He majored in Security and Negotiating where he graduated top ten among other cadets.

First Mission-Betrayal

Cavalera’s first mission on-board the Columbia proved to be a costly one at that. The Columbia picked up a distress call from another ship which was drifting passed the Romulan border. The ship (SS Jade) claiming to be a part of the Federation was going askew with no power. Captain Sevala whom was surprisingly a Romulan, took command of the Columbia while Captain Adaran was with an away team who beamed aboard the SS Jade. The away team did confirm that the SS Jade was in fact a Federation ship.

Xavier was assigned to the Bridge, situated at the security console without really knowing what was going on due to his tardiness. Moments after he arrived, the security console showed in Intruder alert on decks three and five. The Venezuelan informed the Bridge; subsequently the entire ship. Captain Sevala agreed to allow Ensign Cavalera to head towards the decks where the intruders beamed on-board. LCdr Vos and Doctor Wood were already present, involved in a phaser fight with the Romulans. The crew members were able to neutralize a few enemy Romulans and was soon joined the Columbia’s COS-Lt Wood. Other Romulans entered the Jeffries Tube which made the close quarters fighting extremely difficult. Lieutenant Wood was injured and as the crew retreated out of the Jeffries Tube, a plasma grenade ricocheted of the bulkhead; forcing Cavalera to kick it.

The grenade managed to barely to enter the tube, exploding killing all the Romulans but Cavalera was tossed back receiving a series of injuries. Xavier would lose his right thumb, index, and middle fingers. He would also suffered a missing right eye compliments of the exploding plasma grenade. SOCOM conducted their investigation but what they found were sort of inconclusive details. Suspicions still fell on Captain Sevala’s advisors whom accompanied her on-board the Columbia. Fortunately enough, the medical staff on SBB was able to fit Xavier with cloned fingers and thumb. They couldn’t save his right eye but were able to install an optical implant. Needless to say, Cavalera’s first mission was successful enough that he was able to aide in containing the intruders, his injuries remind him how anything can happen if you’re not careful. He looks forward in serving his crew mates in the future, hopefully without any serious injuries.

Following Xavier’s recovery, Captain Adaran sent out invitations for a party on Star Base Bravo. Xavier was hesitant to go due to his recovery from his injuries and getting used to his optical implant. He fought with himself and decided it would be best to go and have a good time.

When he arrived at the Pussycat Lounge, other officers were already present and mingling. Captain Adaran and an unknown female named Sparkles were handing out awards and pips to those who were promoted. After the ceremony, Star Base Bravo was attacked presumably by a terrorist group.

Cavalera was thrown back; knocking his head on a table causing a fractured skull. Everything else pertaining to the attack was a blur to the young Venezuelan security officer. The head trauma caused him to be a liability instead of someone capable of performing their duties. He was helped by Sita, whom is a medic on-board the Columbia. Sita was able to help Xavier through a vent enroute to sickbay. On the other side of the vent, Martok assisted the severely injured Cavalera the rest of the way to sickbay. Cavalera spent a good amount of time recovering on Star Base Bravo. Since the attacks, the star base has been on high alert with checkpoints seemingly everywhere on the base. A lot of the Bravo Star Base was destroyed in the attacks and it took some time before normalcy resumed.
