Danilo Odell, leader of the Bringloidi in 2365.

The Bringloidi were a group of Humans, originally from Earth, who left aboard a colony ship in 2123.

They settled on the planet Bringloid V, located in the Ficus sector, sometime during the early 22nd century.

Primarily of Irish descent, these people left Earth as part of the Neo-Transcendentalist movement that followed World War III and First Contact with the Vulcans.
They rejected technology (save for the colony ship), and they prospered due to their use of traditional techniques, such as providing their own textiles and food, using equipment and animals brought with them.

By 2365, their population had reached 225.

In that year, they were forced to evacuate aboard the USS Enterprise-D, due to increased solar flare activity in their star system.

At Captain Jean-Luc Picard's suggestion, the Bringloidi eventually merged with the clone-based society of the Mariposans, who had descended from the same colony ship.

  • The Mariposans, suffering from genetic degradation due to constant cloning, needed a large genetic base to survive.

Due to the amount of clones from the Mariposan population, successful merging of the two colonies meant that each woman, from both groups, had to have at least three children by three different men.

  • It also meant that monogamous marriages would not be possible for several generations.

The two societies now live a merged existence on the planet Mariposa, taking on the new name of the "United Ficus Colony."
