Personal History
Kathryn was born in Philadelphia, 2357 the only child to Reginald and Isabella Montone. She was raised in New Jersey and graduated Magna Cum Laude from University in 2374. She was then commissioned through the Starfleet JAG Corps Student Program and, in 2379, graduated from their Justice School of Law and later earned a Master of Laws degree (Environmental Law) from the same school.
Branis began her career as a litigator, first as a defence counsel (2380-2384) and, later, as a trial counsel (prosecution) in Newport, R I (2385-2389). It was here that she met Sergio Branis who was then working as a defence lawyer, they eventually married in 2387 and have two children, Mario and Selena.
Her career continued with assignments in appellate defence and civil litigation (2390-2397) in Washington, D.C. During this time she also served as the senior staff judge advocate for OJAG headquarters, and special assistant for Legal and Legislative Matters to the Minister of Defence; legislative counsel for Environmental Programs in the Starfleet Office of Legislative Affairs; and, executive assistant to the JAG (2398-2400).
After received her flag rank, Kathryn served from 2401-2405 as the Deputy Judge Advocate General and she led the judge advocates, enlisted legal men and civilian employees of 17 commands throughout Starfleet, providing prosecution, defence and legal assistance services to individuals and legal support to shore and space borne commands.
She was promoted to Admiral and is now the Starfleet Judge Advocate General (2406-)
Kathryn holds various decorations and awards, including the Diamond Star, Distinguished Service Globe, Gold Star (three awards), Starfleet Achievement Medal (two awards) and the Starfleet Commendation medal (Four awards).
