Personal History

Pedro grew up in the bustling metropolis of Mexico City, and attended the top schools throughout his life. His father, Alan, was a Starfleet Archeologist from Paris who was studying Mayan artifacts in Mexico when he met Pedro's mother, Elena. She was elected Mayor when Pedro was in middle school, and as such he was exposed to local and planetary politics, sparking his interest in Starfleet. He enjoyed his privileged life without many cares, until the death of his father when he began high school. To cope with the extreme rage he felt, he began taking martial arts lessons, studying a wide variety of techniques and styles. This helped him to cope with the emotions he felt after the death of his father. He favored the Vulcan martial art of Ti-Sul, and started taking lessons across the globe in Bombay, India, where the Ti-Sul master Sulin lived. Sulin became somewhat of a mentor and father figure for him, helping him understand that he must overcome his emotional obstacles and make his father proud by achieving great things and helping others.

Taking the transporter every day to get to martial arts practice got him interested in starship operations, and he even got an internship helping with maintenance and operation. At Starfleet Academy, Pedro blended his interests in martial arts and systems operations to study tactical theory and starship weapons design, and he took many courses to help him become a Tactical Officer. His deep understanding of strategy and weapon mechanics allowed him to exploit weaknesses in enemy defenses and come up with innovative ways to use current technology to achieve results in combat. He even found ways to adapt diplomatic techniques his mother employed as Mayor to the battlefield, and earned a nickname among his friends: “The Torpedo Ambassador”.

Through meditation and spiritual practice, Pedro was able to cope with his father’s death and improve his adaptability and ability to analyze complex combat scenarios even further. His last year at the Academy he took a tour of duty on a cruiser primarily assigned to first contact scenarios, and was able to offer an idea that increased torpedo yield in a small burst pattern and helped rescue an away team from an collapsed mining facility. This earned him a commendation and a letter of recommendation from the Captain to serve in any Tactical Department in Starfleet.

As their time went on, Alejandro realized he was more interested in starship design than starship duty, so the two friends scrapped their dream of serving together, but stay in regular contact.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: His whole family had a very difficult time following the death of his father, and as the oldest child, he had very little to guide him during this time. For a few years he bullied others at school and got involved in activities that he regretted.
Best Time: Some of Pedro’s best memories were from training in Bombay with the Ti-Sul master. He loved getting away to the beautiful city and getting to know Indian culture and food. It was his “home away from home”.
Most Crucial Experience: Pedro had very influential professors at the Academy, and they inspired him to learn to his fullest potential.
Role Model: Pedro has appreciated his mother’s strengths and skills, following her diplomatic tactics and applying them to starship combat scenarios again and again.
