An antigraviton is a variant of a graviton particle, known as the antimatter equivalent of a graviton.
They can be created artificially, and are used often hand-in-hand with their counterpart, gravitons.
Common Uses
- Tractor beams use graviton generators, also known as "graviton field generators," which help create a field around an intended object or subject.
- Deflector arrays
- Antigraviton emitter - a device capable of producing and directing an energy form with antigravitational properties.
- One was used to try and bring down the field of self-replicating mines deployed at the entrance of the Bajoran wormhole.
Practical Applications
- In 2374, an antigraviton beam was used to help deactivate the self-replicating mines around the Bajoran wormhole.
- In 2375, a team which took it upon themselves to ensure the safety of space travel sealed a "subspace sinkhole" using antigraviton beams.
