Wasswa was born minutes before his brother, Olwewenyo, in the Basoko Township, D.R Congo. Brought up into an agricultural family, his early life was spent in the fields alongside his brother and father, learning the family practice of cultivating luxury crops for wealthy individuals and corporations across the federation. From a young age he learnt how to operate and administer the numerous robotic machines and appliances that ensured Amos family produce was a highly sought after commodity on planets across the Alpha Quadrant.
Wasswa’s natural affinity for technology was evident to his parents and following his primary and secondary schooling alongside his brother he was enrolled at the Nairobi Technical Institute, a university that placed great emphasis upon technical proficiency alongside a more standard university curriculum. It was in Nairobi that Wasswa discovered and became involved with the Starfleet Youth Movement.
Encouraged by his friends, Wasswa threw himself into the movement, gaining his first real insight into how the space faring arm of the Federation operated. Over the duration of his course at the Technical Institute he learnt a great deal not only about how the Federation, and by extension Starfleet, operated but also about his own goals and aspirations. By the time he graduated with a first class honours degree it was clear to Wasswa that a life amongst the stars was top of his list.
Following a summer in Nairobi with his old college friends, the message came through that he had been accepted into the autumn intake at Starfleet Academy, San Francisco and from there Wasswa never looked back.
Academy Major(s): Advanced Navigation, Space frame Dynamics
Academy Minor(s): Tactical Shield Manipulation, Advanced Evasive Manoeuvres, Phaser Systems Optimisation
Hobbies and Pastimes: Rugby Sevens, Pancak Silat
Short-Term Goals: Stand on a planet outside the Solar System, serve on a tour of duty
Long-Term Goals: Become a Department Head, explore new areas of space
Personality: : Wasswa was brought up amongst a traditional farming family that taught him to try and see the best in everything and his eyes weren’t really opened to the world until he arrived in Nairobi at the age of 18. Although it has been some time since he left his home village of Basoko there are still some nuances of the international community that surprise him.
Despite this, he is open minded and eager to learn, picking up new tasks quickly and with great passion. Wasswa is also intensely competitive both with himself and others, leading to frustration when he doesn’t pick up a new skill quickly or when someone is evidently far better than him at a particular task. In short Wasswa is something of a perfectionist at heart, unhappy until a job is done properly and to the best of his ability.

Fears: Open water
Prejudices: None that he is aware of, although he has always been wary of devout religious types
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Leather flip-slops, Fitted t-shirt and thick cotton track pants. The less formal the better.
Distinguishing Features: Wasswa carries markings not dissimilar to ritual scarification along both the inside and outside of his left forearm. He claims too many that this is from an accident he was involved in as a teenager with some farm machinery but the truth that he keeps secret from all but a very small number of close friends. At the age of fifteen, Wasswa took part in a foolish ceremony held by his friends that he thought would bring him ‘closer to his roots’. The end result was a small group of teenagers proudly carrying the marks on their arms that would not have been out of place centuries beforehand. This pride quickly turned to adolescent embarrassment and despite the pride that Wasswa takes in his heritage, he maintains his cover story.
Friends: Jim Barnes, an environmentalist who worked in Wasswa’s home town.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: Receiving the injuries that led to the scarring on his left forearm.
Best Time: The summer of his graduation year, spent in Nairobi with close friends.
