Personal History
Zach is the descendent of an old family with long medical tradition. Medicine was a family tradition for centuries and almost every member of his family was in a medical or paramedical profession.
He, himself, did not initially want to be a doctor, but instead an engineer. He was a good student and he was particularly capable in physics and technology courses. Of course his performance in biology and chemistry courses was good as well. However when his older sister decided to become a pharmacologist then he saw himself obliged to enter in the faculty of medicine. The reason was to take over his parents’ business after their retirement or use their clientele in a different specialty. In this regard he preferred initially to follow a specialty like cardiology or pathology but finally he decided for a surgical specialty instead, and thus to put in good use his engineering talent.
One day he found in the library database the ‘De Re Medica Libri Septem’ book (Medical Compendium in Seven Books) by Paul of Aegina. Paul of Aegina was a seventh century Byzantine physician who travelled all around the old world for practicing his profession and thus augmenting his medical knowledge and skills. This was a turning point for him and decided to imitate Paul, this time travelling among the alien civilizations. This was the reason he decided to follow the medical career through the Starfleet Academy. Accordingly he selected his academy minors for having more qualifications for his adventure aspirations.
In the meantime he developed interest in using substances found in nature for designing new medications and for this he worked in detail on Dr Phlox’s previous treatises. This work, which by the time turned to be his hobby, proved worthy since he developed excellent diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Accordingly he developed excellent observation skills in exercising traditional medical practices on his patients and later cross-checking the accuracy of his diagnosis and treatment through modern machines and equipment.
During his off-duty times he works on his hobbies and performs some athletic activities like scuba diving, swimming and jogging for keeping himself fit.

Personality: Beside of his adventurous character he is looking antisocial and maverick in exercising medicine but in reality he acts this way in order to hide weaknesses and his gentle and compassionate side. At the other hand he is flirting a lot. In the academy he was having such a reputation among female cadets…

Dislikes: Manipulative and selfish people. He also dislikes patients who come to see him but hide their history.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Slow minded people, those who do not get things fast.
Bad Habits or Vices: When stressed he twists his neck. One of his bad habits is that when in social encountering he tries to observe people’s appearance like eye’s white or skin color, posture and color of fingers, ankles etc… trying to diagnose their possible health condition. This is also a weakness and sometimes makes people to feel at least uncomfortable.
Achievements: It was his first operation case as young professional. Then they brought to the emergency a patient with severe spinal cord injury who was needed immediate surgery. He succeeded to make this patient to walk after a 6 hours long operation.
Disappointments: Not being graduated top of his class because of his challenging and maverick nature.

Strengths: He is excellent in diagnostics medicine
Weaknesses: He believes he is not well responding before the death of his patients. Times to times he lacks of patience and discretion.
Fears: Loosing his patients because of bad practice
Prejudices: Klingon food. Some of them are very similar to frog legs and earth sea food, like krada legs, klingon octopus and pipius claw. Yet the feeling of Gagh and Racht is so negatively dominant in his imagination that makes him to reject all dishes.
Friends: He is not creating best friend type relations since his 22; because he was betrayed by a person who believed he was his best friend.
