Adroni

For well over a century, the Adroni family possessed a great deal of influence on Bajor. Most of their influence was gained through an extremely successful merchant business, Oraci Shipping Inc., that specialized in inter-Quadrant transportation.

As far as historians and authorities can tell, the Adroni family and their business remained entirely legitimately until the Dominion War. At this point, they began to use their shipping capabilities, and more specifically their contacts, to run weapons and smuggle for the Bajoran resistance. It is safe to assume that the Dominion War, specifically the death of the majority of the older generation of the family, forever altered the family’s course. The war saw the death of most of the family’s highest and most ethical members, leaving the family in the hands of the more opportunistic, younger generation.

Following the Dominion war, the family began their criminal career in earnest as discreet couriers for the Tirhov, a crime syndicate that specialized in drugs/firearms. Because the Adroni’s upstanding reputation and their absolute carefulness, it was many, many years before anyone began to suspect their involvement in less than legitimate business opportunities. It was beneficial that during this time period, their legitimate business grew and flourished, which aided in hiding their additional cash flow.

Because the Adroni’s were natural businessmen, they made many connections while couriering and desired to expand their profit potential. This led to numerous disagreements with the Tirhov, which eventually led to a less than amicable split. Since the Adronis had become such opportunists, they used their connections to steal business from the Tirhov, which culminated in a turf war. The Adroni were particularly ruthless in systematically and discreetly annihilating the Tirhov, allowing them to take over a large share of the drug business.

Current intel suggests that they operate out of the trading outpost Remar IV. Most likely, this was always the home of their underground operations, but the destruction of Bajor caused the legitimate merchant business to be relocated. Because Remar IV is such a busy trading post and has such a large Bajoran population, Oraci Shipping Inc was welcomed with open arms. Because the legitimate business tends to focus heavily on philanthropic outreach to the community, and the drug business doesn’t impact the locals -- the Adronis refuse to sale the drugs in locations that will directly impact large populations of Bajorans --, locals on Remar IV largely overlook hints and rumors of their criminal business.

Due to the destruction of Bajor, intel is extremely limited on how the family was affected. Prior to the disaster, the family allowed very few non-Bajorans into the business, relying on a strict code of tradition and loyalty, but due to the shrinking Bajoran population, this may not be possible anymore. However, the Adroni’s are actively trying to strengthen the Bajoran community in hopes that it will begin growing again.

The former patriarch of the family, Adroni Mino, perished with Bajor and it is not entirely clear who runs the narcotics operation. Mino’s wife, Adroni Kaeli, runs the merchant business, is the philanthropic outreach, but is also suspected of having a hand in, if not running, the narcotics operation as well. She is known as a charming woman, but as far as business practices go, she has a reputation as a cutthroat and ruthless business operator.

Mino and Kaeli had seven children, five sons and two daughters. Because of discreteness and secrecy around the narcotics operation, their involvement in the narcotics operation is mostly unknown. The oldest daughter, Martea, is Kaeli’s righthand for the merchant business, but it is highly unlikely that she is involved in the narcotics operation. It’s been suspected that only the sons are involved, but even that is merely speculation based on how well the Adroni’s have separated the two businesses.

Every investigation into the Adroni’s books for Oraci Shopping Inc. has turned up completely clean. There have been no signs of any trickery in their financial documents, and the occasional seizures of their shipments by customs authorities have always come back clean. If it weren’t for confidential sources that have sworn to their heavy involvement in the narcotics business, authorities would write off the rumors as smear campaigns by the family’s rivals.
