Personal History
Vreean's family comes from Betazed's least of the twenty great houses. His official title is: Scion of the 20th House, Heir to the Blessed Songs of Zoreesha, and Holder of the Sacred Lyre of Betazed. Vreean traveled with his parents off planet during orchestra tour dates. He's been to Earth (Sol system), Bajor, Vulcan, and several colonies.
A favorite memory is of their trip to Bajor and seeing for the first time, the worm-hole open up. The possibilities (space travel, meeting new cultures, etc.) seemed endless. While on Bajor, during a picnic, a group of the young children dared each other to cross over a fence of a long abandoned military base (part of the Cardassian occupation, decades before). There, six year old Vreean scratched himself on a broken container containing the Tevian virus.
After two years of the disease, a risky cure was offered by a Bajoran doctor (Dr. Brazi Arpando)...by using AVVFA picobots (Anti-Viral Very Fast Adapting). The picobots successfully countered the Tevian virus and have acted as a supplement to his own immune system. The virus has not been totally eradicated, but kept at bay in a dormant state, within the lining of his para-cortex. At puberty, the damage to his para-cortex became evident...his telepathic abilities manifested themselves, but they were spotty and intermittent.
At age 14 while on Vulcan, Vreean was taught self-mind control techniques from Dr. Sura (a Vulcan psychologist), developed a strong adolescent infatuation with her.
At age 16, disappointed at having missed being on the Betazed swim team: Kronos Olympics by two one hundredths of a second.
At age 17, earned the Derom award (graduating high school) for mathematical excellence.
At age 18, achieved Terran equivalent of 'black-belt' in Betazed martial art Ch'Bi, survived Borg attack, joined Starfleet.
At age 22, graduated Starfleet Academy (made Dean’s list all four years). Age 23 posted to USS-Copernicus as Science Officer, Rank Midshipman.
At age 25, returned to home space, in love/bonded with Dr. Mahla Tru, Achieved Rank of Lt.JG.
At age 26, married Mahla Tru on Verillium IV and changed surname to Tru-Abaa.
At Age 26 and half, permanently cured of illness
At age 28 achieved rank of LCdr and made CSO of USS Copernicus.

He’s been cured of his disease, he’s made a rank he thought he’s never achieve, and his marriage/relationship with Mahla is doing well. Will investigate whether to move into Command or assume a research position on advanced warp propulsion systems

Disappointments: Due to his disease and 'cure', physical intimacy appears out of the question. Vreean has accepted this facet of himself…as a silver lining; he has bonded with Mahla Tru, she accepting this limitation in their relationship
Illnesses: None/Cured of Tevian Fibromicrosis (Stardate:20501.16)
Strengths: Very strong empathy for others, caring, really likes science. Has near Vulcan-like control (usually of a temporary nature) of certain mental tasks and emotions
Weaknesses: His affliction Vreean had been emotionally and physically isolated from others, but has grown immensely in these areas. Untrained telepath...telepathy leakage in or out possible.
Fears: Fear of eavesdropping on others persons thoughts.
Prejudices: Borg (feelings of pity). Slight negative feelings to Cardassians (due to empathic readings of Bajorans, while he was on Bajor).
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Loose and billowy, natural plant fibers and colors.
Distinguishing Features: Handsome, pretty-boy type (would make a passable female). A Terran might initially confuse him for a sun worshipping Greek/Mediterranean boy.
Pets: None. Seven years ago: Tooboo (Betazed seal-like creature) assimilated. Presumed dead
Friends: Anthony Chang (met while at secret location after Borg attack). Lives on Katzua Colony.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: The assimilation (and near assimilation of himself) of his parents and an older brother to the Borg. During the Borg attack at Katzua Colony (some two years before beginning Academy training) most of his family were assimilated, he should have been too. However, the picobot technology was faster adapting than the Borg implants and destroyed them, saving Vreean a fate considered worse than death. During the short time of assimilation/de-assimilation, Vreean was telepathically linked to the nearby Borg collective. Vreean 'mentally' screamed his pain, anger and fear at the collective, then passed out
Best Time: Marrying Mahla Tru during their adventure on Verillium IV. Falling in love with Mahla True and she with him. From their initial moments in Sickbay, quarters, and about various areas on board the Copernicus, to their declarations of love in 10 Forward.
Being part of the team, performing transwarp modifications to the Copernicus.
Most Crucial Experience: Falling in love and receiving the same (described elsewhere), Vreean having the void in his soul filled with joy and laughter he hasn’t felt since a boy of six. He has bonded with Mahla Tru.
The Katzua Colony Borg attack.
Role Model: His parents, especially his mother. She was a strong individual and truly believed in the equality of the sexes. She would constantly stress that it was up to him to become successful and find happiness. She exposed her children to the arts and sciences, for she loved music most of all. She was principle xaolist (roughly a cross between a Terran koto and a cello, played with a parallel bow) of the Terzoi (a major city on Betazed) Symphonic Orchestra. His father was an acoustic specialist, working for the orchestra in a technical capacity.
Of historical importance, he was enamored with Faralxine Derom, who's theories on trans-warp and supra-trans-warp propulsion boggled his imagination. She had advocated for the search to find or to synthetically manufacture the quaternary form of dilithium...tetradilithium. Vreean studied hard in mathematics in order to someday more fully understand her equations.
