• 1991 - The Cold War ends during this year.

• 1992-1996 - Eugenics Wars: Often considered the "first stage" of WWIII, this war was brought about by a group of genetically-engineered "supermen," led by Khan Noonien Singh. They seized control of approximately forty Earth nations during their time in power.

• 1996 - Khan Noonien Singh and over fifty of his followers leave Earth, not to be heard or seen from again, until 2267.

• 1998 - NASA announces that the Moon has enough water in polar craters to support a human colony and rocket-fueling station.

• 1999 - Probe Voyager VI is launched by NASA. It is subsequently swallowed by a singularity later named the "Black Star," and later becomes a being known as V'Ger.
