- Berman's Rainbow Dreamers performs at the Behr Theater in San Francisco.
- Miles O'Brien and Kira Nerys briefly appear in San Francisco while attempting to locate the timeframe that Benjamin Sisko, Jadzia Dax and Julian Bashir materialized in.
- The Federation timeship Aeon crashlands in the High Sierras, California after its navigation system is knocked offline during an attack on the USS Voyager in 2373. Captain Braxton performs an emergency beam-out, and attempts to search for his lost ship. Unfortunately, it is found by Henry Starling first, who takes it and begins to use its advanced technology to found Chronowerx, and start the microprocessor revolution.
- October 10 – The Outer Space Treaty, signed on January 27 by more than sixty nations, comes into force.
- October 18 - The Soviet probe Venera 4 reaches Venus and becomes the first spacecraft to measure the atmosphere of another planet.
