• November 7 - Buck Rogers in the 25th Century debuts on American radio. It is the first science fiction program on radio.

• Amelia Earhart flies from the United States to County Londonderry, Northern Ireland in 14 hours 54 minutes.

• The Kennedy–Thorndike experiment is published, showing that measured time as well as length is affected by motion, in accordance with the theory of special relativity.
