Personal History

Born in the State of Michigan on Earth, Jason led a fairly quiet, small town life as a child. He took great interests in strategy games at a young age, and viewed the men and women in Starfleet as heroes in his early childhood. It was evident to his parents early on that his IQ was high enough that one day he could easily pursue a career in the Federation.

He grew up with and quickly became friends with Robert, a boy 2 years younger, and their families had been friends for a while. They grew to act and think almost as one at times, and began considering each other brothers almost from the onset. When Robert's parents were killed in a car accident when he was 13, a 15 year old Jason thought it would be a great idea to take him in, which the family did.

Upon entering high school, Jason took a great interest in Physics, and continued his love for strategy games by joining the local chess club. He excelled in mathematics, and even entered a few Math and Physics contests, placing high. His time with the chess club was not wasted either, as he received invites to play in chess tournaments at the State and National levels when he was 16 and 17 years old, respectively. He placed 1st in State, and amongst the top 5 on the National level in multiple tournaments, including a 2nd and 3rd placing in two separate tournaments.

Upon graduating high school, Jason was prepared to enroll in Starfleet. However, a rough financial patch for most of the local area hit, and he had to take a job working with his father and uncle in the local mine. It was here that he was able to construct new supports for the mine shafts using his knowledge of physics and math. The crew was almost in completion of the first shaft when an incident occurred which claimed the lives of his uncle and another friend.

Believing the accident to be a fault in his schematics, he felt uncertain about his confidence. It was later determined that it was the shaft itself that was compromised, and it helped him learn about the faults in time to detect another one before it collapsed, saving countless lives. Once his family was back on their feet, and the financial turmoil gone, he once again set his sites on Starfleet.

Entering his fourth year, Jason has learned a lot more than he thought he could. He primarily focused on Weapons and Defense. The mine shaft incident was his primary reason for that. Jason felt that if he could learn the system that best helped the ship in a hostile crisis, then he could use the strategy and gut that he used on the mine shaft to best help the ship and the others on board.

He entered the Fighter Pilot Program, already having been given some flying lessons early in his life by the local crop-duster. A fair pilot in the program, he hopes to be able to use the experience to help Starfleet when the time calls for his piloting. He finished the Program with fairly high marks.

USS Sheridan, DD-4086

Starbase Delta

After finishing his final exam at the Academy, Jason was assigned as Tactical Officer aboard the USS Sheridan. Before coming aboard, he had the opportunity to meet most of the crew at Starbase Delta during shore leave. He performed in the Swingin' Sheridans band along with First Officer Alex Ankar, Science Officer Persephone Nox and eventual-Chief Medical Officer Derrick Boorman.

Shore leave ended soon enough, though, and Jason boarded the vessel. His first assignment, and most assignments consecutively after, placed him at the helm. As the Sheridan had no fighters, Jason was content with the opportunity to fly the vessel. His first mission started shortly after.

Telbar

The first mission for Jason came as a joint ops with other ships from the 4th Fleet and a ship from the First. They were to travel to the Dalmatia System. The Sheridan's mission was to Telbar, a Class P ice planet. Upon arrival, they discovered a faulty Gravitic Tractor Generator, and an away team was sent to fix, Jason assigned as pilot.

Upon descent to the surface, the ship he was piloting, the Winchester, came under attack by drones. Crash landing on the planet, the away team had to deal with smaller drones, which were quickly dispatched when the Winchester was made operable. The team continued on with their mission, dealing with a few more drones along the way, and eventually fixed the Generator.

After returning to the Sheridan, they prepared to return to Starbase Delta, but a course order changed them to head to Starbase Alpha, where the Sheridan was to be re-assigned to the First Fleet. On the trip, a promotion ceremony which included Ankar, Nox and Sothrick took place, in which Jason was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade (his promotion to Ensign forgone because of the Telbar mission) and appointed the position of the Sheridan's new Chief Tactical Officer, fulfilling one of his long term goals.

Gamma Quadrant and The Shard

Upon being reassigned to the 1st Fleet, Jason and the rest of the Sheridan made way to Starbase Alpha for updated orders. While on a very brief shore leave, Jason had the chance to visit his family on Earth. It was also while docked on Alpha that he got his first taste of the difficulties of being a Department Head when he had to discipline Ensign Blade after an incident on the Bridge. Jason dealt out a pretty harsh punishment, which he alleviated when he had some time to think without his decisions being clouded by anger.

They then received their next mission: To rendezvous with the Gettysburg and investigate Shard activity. Once they arrived, there was difficulty bringing up communications between the two vessels. The problem was soon taken care of, and Commanders Vaughn and Ankar went over to the Gettysburg for a meeting with Captain Fitchel. Jason became Acting First Officer under Chief of Security Lieutenant Sothrick, where Jason took an opportunity to commend Blade on his ability to overcome previous problems and promoted him to Lieutenant Junior Grade and Assistant Chief Tactical Officer.

Then a stowaway was found aboard the Sheridan. The problem with the stowaway was dealt with at a later time, the stowaway and her accomplice held in the Brig until interrogation.

Upon the return of the CO and FO, the Sheridan and Gettysburg made their way into the wormhole. In the Gamma Quadrant, they encountered Shard vessels. A battle ensued, in which the two Federation vessels were doing well until the arrival of the mothership. The two ships took a beating until the timely interference of Jem'Hadar vessels. After the battle, in which it appeared the Vorta, which were the only species Jason saw on the Dominion ships, had found a weapon capable of breaking through the Shard defenses, the Sheridan and Gettysburg were giving a little information that the Dominion had and left the Gamma Quadrant. En route back to Starbase Alpha, Jason was promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant.

Return to Alpha, Command Course and transfer

Upon returning to Starbase Alpha, Jason had found himself at the rank of full Lieutenant. It was also here that he met up with his brother, Robert, who had transferred to the Sheridan. What he hadn't expected when meeting up with Robert was meeting Cleo Banks. Jason and Cleo hit it off instantly, and began spending time together, especially considering her transfer to the Sheridan as its new Chief Science Officer. Though, as good as their time was, there was a slight obstacle: she had also caught the attention of Jason's Assistant CTO, Johnny Blade.

As both men attempted to win her heart, several issues arose. Eventually, though, Cleo chose Johnny and Jason was content with that. He eventually found a kindred spirit in one of the Medical crewman, a young Vulcan named T'Shel.

During shore leave, Jason was given the Command Course Certification test. He had already passed the written exam, and now it was time for the actual scenario. His First Officer, Commander Alex Ankar, administered the test. In the test, Jason had to deal with the reality that a Commanding Officer would have to order his crew to their deaths. Though it didn't sit well with him, he made the call to do so, allowing his Away team to sacrifice themselves to save the lives aboard three vessels. Commander Ankar informed him once the scenario was over that he had passed because of the call he had made. He could now officially command a vessel in the absence of those higher ranked.

As the Sheridan prepared for its next mission, Jason had received transfer orders to become the Ticonderoga's Chief Tactical Officer, after his predecessor, Lieutenant Margaret Murphy, had mysteriously vanished, presumed dead. This meant he had to leave T'Shel, though he would later discover she had been called to a Medical program back on Earth and eventually married. He was able to, with some hesitation, feel good enough about leaving the Sheridan's Tactical Department to his now-former Assistant Johnny Blade.

USS Ticonderoga, CA-1471

Muro IX and change of Command

Jason's transfer to the Ticonderoga meant he and another new addition to the crew, recent Academy graduate T'Aranai Dawn, met up with the Heavy Cruiser in the Muro System. He reported to Acting Commanding Officer Commander Tokat and was assigned to pilot a SpecOps freighter, the "Renegade", down to the surface to locate a downed fighter. The fighter was part of a special group only known to a select few. The "Venators" were a new type of fighter, and one that Starfleet didn't want in the wrong hands. A secondary mission was to find the pilots, which including the Ticonderoga's Commanding Officer, Commodore Paul Braggins. The mission was considered a success, and they had also located the Commodore, though lost a member of the Security team to a "ghost" sniper.

Upon returning to Starbase Bravo, the Ticonderoga was scheduled for a refit. During that time, a ceremony was held, which first honored the loss of Lieutenant Murphy and Midshipman Kruse. After that, it was announced that the Venators and Renegade would be pulled from the Ticonderoga, and that Braggins was stepping down as Commanding Officer, a position that was given to Commander Tokat shortly after the announcement. It was during the promotion ceremony that Jason was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Shore Leave, Addi and Acting First Officer

After his recent promotion to Lieutenant Commander, Jason took the opportunity to enjoy shore leave. During the prior ceremony, he had talked to Lieutenant Commander Addison Donaghue. They seemed to hit it off well, and agreed to spend time during shore leave to get to know one another. This led to a date, and Jason and Addi grew closer.

During their time together, Jason had learned the true reason Addi had been assigned to the Ticonderoga in the first place: to investigate a possible leak. He understood the need, and was grateful Addi had confided in him before the truth of her assignment had gone public. That trust only solidified his feelings for her, and he soon found himself falling for her.

Shore leave, like all good things, eventually came to an end, and Jason found himself on the newly-refitted and class-renamed Ticonderoga. The Tactical Department had been transformed into a Strategic Operations Center, which included Offices for the First Officer, the Strategic Operations Director, and, of course, the Chief Tactical Officer. Shortly after getting back on board, Captain Tokat requested a meeting with Jason.

During this meeting, Jason learned that, due to timing, the Vulcan Captain had not had time to elect a new First Officer. As such, he offered Jason the position of Acting First Officer, which Jason accepted. He knew it would put a lot of strain on him to fulfill both the duties of First Officer and his normal duties as Chief Tactical Officer. This strain was greatly cushioned by Addi’s return to the Ticonderoga as Acting Chief of Security, since the departures of both Lieutenant Caldecott and Lieutenant Munroe.

Intelligence, a Distress Call and a New Mission

With his temporary position as Acting First Officer fully in effect, the Ticonderoga began a patrol mission. After roughly a week on patrol, they received a call to meet up with the USS Phoenix. They were told they would be taking passengers aboard. Jason, filling his duty as Acting First Officer, went to meet said passengers in the Transporter Room.

There, he met Commander Kestra, a Betazoid from Starfleet Intelligence. Her presence caused disorder amongst the telepathic and semi-telepathic crew. She shortly thereafter toned down her telepathic abilities to allow the afflictions to cease.

Before the crew could find out exactly why she was there, the Ticonderoga received a distress signal. Upon investigating, they discovered Ambassador Jal and her family. They towed her ship in and were making to escort her to the safety of a Starbase.

Shortly after taking on the Ambassador and her family, Captain Tokat had Jason call a Senior Staff meeting. During the meeting, they discovered their new mission, as well as the reason for Commander Kestra’s presence. She was there to interview, which Jason saw as more of an interrogation, the crew to try and discover a traitor.

The actual mission was to meet up with the Dharvaneks, a group of Romulans with a less than stellar reputation, to obtain information regarding possible intel on the Krynar.

The Dharvaneks, New First Officer and Uiheveri

En route to meet with the Dharvaneks, a familiar face returned to the Ticonderoga. Commander Edward Gregg had returned from his short time on the Chin’toka, where Jason had learned his brother Robert had been made the Chief Engineer. Once Gregg was aboard, Captain Tokat wasted no time in offering him the position of First Officer. With Commander Gregg’s acceptance of the position, Jason was able to focus on his Department.

He also joined the Away Team over to meet with the Dharvaneks. While at the meeting, they discovered that the Dharvaneks wanted them to partake of an infiltration mission in order to obtain the information. Returning to the Ticonderoga, the crew discussed on whether or not the risk was worth the information. As they discussed it, they came under attack by the Uiheveri.

After a brief battle, the remaining Uiheveri ships retreated. Having received a communiqué from Starfleet Command regarding a Krynar invasion of the Sol System, the Ticonderoga and Dharvaneks parted ways.

Krynar Invasion and Tellar

After the run in with the Uihiveri and receiving the communiqué, the Ticonderoga made haste to the Sol System. They were informed to travel to Tellar Prime in order to engage the Krynar. They were joined by the USS New York and USS Ozaki to handle a group of fighters from the Tellarite Defense Force. As they were Federation ships, a plan was formulated to disable some with codes, which was partially successful.

Unfortunately, the others still attacked. Jason was saddened that the Federation had to battle against former members of the Federation Founders. In the ensuing battle, the USS New York was lost. The Ticonderoga was then ordered to engage a Krynar mothership with a new graviton weapon. Jason quickly learned how the device worked.

They engaged the Krynar ship and used the weapon to utterly destroy it. The implementation of the weapon left Jason worried about where the Federation was heading with this new “superweapon”.

Shore Leave and Engagement

Shortly after the engagement at Tellar Prime, the crew of the Ticonderoga were granted shore leave on Starbase Alpha while repairs and refit were taking place. There, he was able to spend more time with Addi. He also had a chance meet up with his former First Officer, Commander Alex Ankar.

While they were all hanging out at the Promenade, Jason had realized how much he had fallen in love with Addi. Taking the opportunity of shore leave, he proposed to her, and she said yes. He knew, once this war was over, they would have the chance to start their new life together.

Final Showdown and End of a Legacy

With the “superweapon” being outfitted on most of the Fleet’s Heavy Cruiser’s, a plan was formulated to put an end to the threat of the Krynar to the Federation. Specialized task forces were sent to the Krynar home system to engage them by means of a Transwarp Gate. The trip there went as planned, and the battle groups would soon engage.

During the preparation, as they were awaiting orders, Captain Tokat suddenly, and without warning, physically moved Jason from his station at Tactical, throwing him against the wall. Jason did not sustain any serious injuries. Commander Gregg set a phaser to stun and shot Tokat to incapacitate him, but he was not in time to stop the Captain from firing the gravitic weapon out, clipping the USS Avenger.

After a brief stand-off, in which the crew of the Ticonderoga was able to ease the crew of the Avenger, Commander Gregg took Command of the Heavy Cruiser. Jason, as the de facto Second Officer, became Acting First Officer once again in order to finish the mission.

The mission was considered a success, though the consequences proved devastating. The entire system would collapse and be destroyed. The Federation had committed genocide. During the return to the Transwarp Gate, Tokat had recovered and resumed Command, having been cleared by the Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant T’Aranai.

Shortly after, and with a brief introduction to a new Science Midshipman, an alien vessel entered the Ticonderoga’s warp bubble and punctured her hull, breaking the ship into three pieces. Jason was heavily injured, and the surviving crew were transported between the Avenger and the Intrepid.

Once they had healed, the surviving crew were transported to the Titan for the return to Starbase Bravo. Of the 864 crew, there were only 29 survivors.

USS Pegasus, CL-2500

Wedding and New Assignment

Returning to Bravo, as well as the ensuing recovery, was a painful experience. The pain was eased knowing Addi was still with him. He spent some time with her, and they were even able to go ahead with the wedding. It was a wonderful ceremony, and he was happy now that they could start a new life together.

Sometime after their arrival at Bravo, there was a memorial ceremony for the crew of the Ticonderoga. They remembered those lost. For injuries sustained, and his actions during the mission, Jason was awarded the Purple Heart and Gold Star. The crew was then introduced to their new assignment: The USS Pegasus.

Jason looks forward to both his life with Addi and what the Pegasus may hold.

Distress Signal at Sarin IV

The first mission on the Pegasus for the surviving crew of the Ticonderoga was system patrol along the Cardassian Border. For some of the crew, it seemed like punishment. To others, it seemed like a sympathy patrol. Whatever reason was made moot by a distress signal originating from the nearby Sarin System. As the Pegasus was the closest vessel, they went to investigate.

Upon arriving, they made contact with the populace of Sariv IV, the Tu'Vanians. The leader, Aeryn, explained that the planet had been stricken with a plague. The Tu'Vanian scientists sent samples for the Medical and Science crew of the Pegasus to examine. During the investigation, the Pegasus was met with some strong words from Sarin IV's military leader, Admiral Jeryn. Soon thereafter, a convoy of Tu'Vanians attempting to flee the planet requested asylum with the Pegasus.

The Science and Medical team discovered that the plague had been engineered. When the Pegasus was scanning the system to see if they could find any hidden saboteurs, Admiral Jeryn sent a small fleet to intercept the Pegasus. With no other choice, Captain Tokat ordered a retreat. During the retreat, they picked up a sensor ghost on the dark side of Sarin IV's moon. It was revealed to be a Cardassian Destroyer, which attacked the Pegasus. After a short battle, which the Tu'Vanians joined the Pegasus, but suffered heavy causalities, the Cardassian destroyer escaped. Star Fleet sent Medical vessels and escort to take over for the Pegasus, so it could return to Starbase for repairs and shore leave.

Family Talks, Transfer and First Officer

Once on shore leave, Jason met up with Addi, where they discussed the prospect of having children. While enjoying leave, he received a message to report to Star Base Delta for reassignment. He was given no details. Once there, he had to wait before anything happened, and no one was able to tell him where his new assignment was. While meeting one of Addi's friends, he received a message from an Ensign Morgan to report to the USS Avenger's Strategic Operations.

When he arrived, he met with Captain Tyra Crawford. There, she offered him the position as the Avenger's new First Officer, which he accepted.

USS Avenger, NCC-1500

A Missing Ship

Shortly after his transfer to the Avenger as her new First Officer, Jason was quickly called into action, as the ship was stolen by members of the ship's original timeline. A small crew, including Jason, gave chase in the Voltaire. After a very stressful encounter with an adolescent Q, the Voltaire was sent to the location of the Avenger.

Jason joined an Away Team over to the Avenger, where it was quickly realized that a self-destruct had been set. With some quick thinking by the two teams, the self-destruct was deactivated. Shortly after, the Gettysburg arrived in system, and, without warning, destroyed the Avenger after transporting the crew over. Once on the Gettysburg, Jason and the others witnessed those aboard disintegrate before their eyes. The Fourth Fleet quickly took control of the ship, and everyone was transported to the Nova for care and a lift back to Delta.

USS Gettysburg, CA-1863

Civil War and Re-assignment

Upon return to Delta, the crew discovered the activation of the Grayson Initiative, which essentially separated the Fourth Fleet from the rest of Star Fleet. A cold Civil War seemed to be brewing between Grayson and the upper echelons. The crew, deciding it best to stay with Fourth Fleet, were soon given a new home...the recently captured Gettysburg, and Jason was re-assigned as the ship's First Officer.

SERE Training and Base Problems

Before the crew could establish themselves on the Gettysburg, most of the Senior Staff and a few Junior Officers were selected to go through survival training on Ryla. They were to be split into two teams, with the objective to reach a base before being "hunted" by a group of Marines assigned to the training.

Upon Jason's transport down to the planet, he found himself waist deep in mud. Once he freed himself, he began to make his way through the swamp, eventually meeting up with some of his team. They continued along, but encountered strange occurrences.

It did not take long to figure out that the training has ceased being training. A mercenary group had infiltrated the Star Fleet training grounds and were hunting down Marines and the crew of the Gettysburg. Eventually, though, someone realized something was wrong and sent support to take care of the mercenary group.

After some recouping, the Gettysburg was assigned to check out some issues plaguing a base. Once they arrived, they sent a team in a shuttle to head there. En route, a small meteorite crashed into the shuttle, killing a new Tactical Midshipman. They somehow managed to crash land into the hanger of the base.

After gathering themselves, the remaining crew went about the duties they had been assigned, while the injured were treated in the Medical facilities. Jason originally went with two of the Engineers and met with an Administrator and a strange Orion woman. After some troubles, the Administrator left to handle some other business, and the Engineers to do their assigned tasks.

That left Jason with the Orion, who lead him to an operations center before disappearing. He called the Gettysburg's newest Chief of Security, Claymore, to join him. They then met with another Administrator, who was concerned about the contact Jason had with the Orion woman. He then told Jason and Claymore of the base's hidden business, the selling of regulated items without proper licensing. He then gave Jason a shot to flush out the hormones from the Orion woman.

Soon, Jason and Claymore investigated where the Orion went, and discovered she was actually responsible for troubles that had appeared. After a prolonged chase, she managed to get away after Jason stopped pursuit to attend to an injured Claymore. Eventually, they made it back aboard and found out a hostile ship had entered the system and challenged the Gettysburg, only to be completely outclassed. The Orion had made it aboard, but perished with the destruction of the ship, of which there were only two survivors. The survivors were later fully placed in Federation custody and moved for interrogations.

The Conan-Doyle

After the following shore leave, the Gettysburg was dispatched to the New Kanto system to engage in negotiations for the release of captive crew of the Conan-Doyle. The ship had been attacked by an unknown adversary, and had crash landed on the planet, apparently destroying an important shrine.

Things started off rocky right away as a New Kanto ship, a modified Avenger-class, made contact with the Gettysburg and sent an inspection team over. Jason joined Captain Crawford and an Away Team that included Zephyr Praise in her return to the Gettysburg.

Once planetside, they met with an Ambassador Hulan and escorted via hoverlimo to meet with the First Ambassador. After a rather tense beginning to negotiations, Jason was sent to check on the Conan-Doyle crew along with Zephyr and a Security escort, Petty Officer Rickford. Once inside the military style vehicle, however, they were gassed.

Jason awoke in a cage with Rickford. After speaking with a Master Chief from the Conan-Doyle, Jason and Rickford worked on a plan of escape. Eventually, a guard came on patrol. At this point, Rickford had managed to escape his binds, and was able to steal the guards pistol. He fumbled a little with it due to the weather and the affects of his binds. He took a shot at the guard, who had managed to bring his PR-1 up in time that the two killed each other. Jason used the opportunity to take the guards knife and keys to free himself, shooting another guard in the process.

Shortly after freeing himself from the cage, however, his exhaustion got the best of him, and he collapsed. He was not out long, but it had been long enough that when he awoke, he was surrounded by six more guards. Commotion and shooting from the fence on the other side caused enough of a distraction for Jason to tackle the closest guard, fighting for the weapon, and subsequently killing the guard. After more scuffle, it was revealed that the person at the gate was the Gettysburg's Chief of Security, ch'Ezhyrraq. They were soon met with more Star Fleet personnel, and made for the Voltaire, escaping the prison.

USS Ozaki, FF-7168

A Promotion

After the mission to New Kanto, Jason was called to Captain Crawford's Ready Room. There, he was informed that, upon their return to Bravo, he was to report to Starbase Alpha for reassignment. There were no details, so both he and Captain Crawford were in the dark as to the meaning of his reassignment.

Once reporting in to Alpha, he made his way to the office of the Fleet Commander, Rear Admiral Kinziri Jal, as ordered. He met with her, and was given the position of Commanding Officer of the Ozaki, a Berlin-class Frigate, and promoted to the rank of Captain.
